Handmade Fishing Floats by Ian Lewis

Handmade Fishing Floats by Ian Lewis Handmade traditional English fishing floats - Ideal presents for the angler who has everything. Custom orders taken. Replica floats made.

I create a wonderful link with the past for traditional anglers, or collectors who are looking for something that is increasingly hard to find these days - affordable, well crafted handmade fishing floats. I use natural materials such as cork, balsa, cane and quill to make floats that not only look amazing, but fish beautifully as well. These floats make the perfect present for any angler. Commiss

ion orders are regularly made and inscriptions are added free of charge. These floats make the perfect present for the fisherman who has everything.

On my website I offer a rather nice "Gift for fishermen" option, which is a float roll and twelve, often totally unique floats (making them the perfect "Advent" gift 🀫). This is a recent example of a lake set that went out - to a customer whom I suspect bought the "gift" for himself πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†πŸ‘

Customer wants same c**king weight just shorter and fatter then that's what the customer gets πŸ‘. These beauties both come with 14g adjustable brass weights built in and self c**k to the top of the main balsa body.

The end result of a recent custom order. Bob and several of his fishing buddies wanted a float to target mackerel and garfish in our local Devon waters. The target was a float carrying 10g, but I decided to make a selection, knowing full well one of the larger sizes would be on the money 🀠. Now I have a range that goes from 4g right up to 14g. That should just about cover it πŸ‘ What other species do you think these would be good for?

Busy as a beaver and chewing through wood almost as fast πŸ˜†πŸ˜†. Been making several sets of the ever popular Billy Lane inspired Duckers after stocks ran low and several folks had messaged me. Always remember, that in my website you can send a float request form to let me know exactly which float, which c**king weight and what to colour you want that is currently out of stock 🀠 MENU - INFORMATION - REQUEST A FLOAT

So since May, the missus and I have been having various renovations done on our house. The builders, true to their kind, have been rocking it out to a playlist that was so good, I requested a link πŸ˜†. Anyway, I was blown away by the sound quality of their speaker one day when they cranked a particularly good song, then left it in the rain when an unexpected downpour hit. So impressed was I with this amazing dervice, I promptly bought one and have been boogying away in my workshop since. Waterproof (note, not just resistant), drop proof, dust proof (big bonus in my workshop), can be used as a battery bank to charge my phone and the sound quality back in my day would have cost over a grand! This toy - Β£100. No sponsorship or affiliate links, just one very happy customer. JBL Charge 6. So good, I'm even considering a second as they can be linked but I think my neighbours might not like that ....... πŸ˜‰

**THEY’RE HERE! πŸ‘€πŸŽ£**

Last week I showed you an idea I’d been working on for **interchangeable float sight tips** β€” and judging by the response, quite a few of you wanted me to get on and make them!

So… they’re now available. πŸ‘

These lightweight push-fit tips simply slide over the existing sight tip on many (but not all) of my floats, letting you **change colour in seconds as the light or background changes**.

Bright yellow suddenly easier to see? Swap it over.
Fishing against bright silver water? Try black.
Need something a little easier on the eyes at distance? They also make the sight tip slightly thicker and more visible.

Available in **Red, Orange, Yellow, Black and White**, in both **Standard** and **Slim** sizes.

You can choose:
β€’ Packs of 5 in a single colour
β€’ Mixed packs with one of each colour
β€’ A complete 10-tip mixed pack with all five colours in both sizes

A very simple little idea, but hopefully a genuinely useful addition to the tackle box.

The start of a new custom journey. Customer (yes, him again πŸ˜†) asked if 'it might be possible' to modify a Zander bob - firstly make it a lot bigger, big enough to have a 14g adjustable brass weight added so the it self c**ks right at the base of the stem where it meets the body. One day I will have to add the word "No" to my vocabulary, but for the moment I love challenges like these (it's an ADHD thing I fear). Anyway, I am pleased to say I clearly am getting really rather good at this whole guess work thing! I grabbed some thicker balsa stock, cut a few inches, drilled out the holes each end and when I seated the bread weight, thought, "hang on a minute - there's no ways that's enough balsa to bouy this weight up!" , so I cut a bigger piece and started over. And here we are - only knocked it out the ball park first time πŸŽ‰.
Joyous victory lap cut short, my mate Michael then asks if it might be possible to make it fatter and shorter so it will cast better and cause less tangles....... so that's me back to the drawing board 🀦🀣🀣

A rather nice set of the 3BB cork Thames Roach floats - quick photo shoot before heading out the workshop. Last ones for a while. Cork is a real bu**er to work, especially slim bodies like these so I will not be restocking these for a while as I concentrate on new patterns for the website 🀠.
