Pony Pursuits are returning to Shotover Country Park for the first time since 2022. We are opening on Saturday 1st and have bookings until 3pm on the 16th....but may extend if we are busy and the weather is good! We would love to see you there!!

ALL BOOKINGS BETWEEN 1-16TH ARE IN SHOTOVER COUNTRY PARK OXFORD. WE MEET IN THE CAR PARK ON THE HEADINGTON SIDE OF SHOTOVER (ACCESSIBLE VIA OLD Road). Please follow the instructions on your booking email as you will miss or shorten your ride if you go to the wrong place 🙏

Slots for the weekend just added! Apologies for being so last minute but it's partially Audhd and partially the fact that I am actually struggling with the parental juggle! Children at home over the summer, a business to run, a house to clean, animals to look after..... it's just impossible isn't it!? Everyday I work so hard but am still always playing catch up 🏃‍♀️

Thank you all for being so patient and flexible.

Pony pursuits are returning to Shotover Country Park for a few weeks in the summer holidays and are looking for new team members. Whether you want to volunteer in return for rides & experience or whether you already have equine experience and are looking for self employed hours, get in touch!

You must be 13+, there will be a responsible adult present to co-ordinate rides and liaise with customers 😀

Shotover sessions consist of preparing the ponies, riding to shotover, leading customer rides, poo picking.

You will have a minimum of a 1 hour ride on the day or you can bank the credit.

We are also expanding our team of adult staff and are looking for weekend grooms over the age of 21, preferably with coaching /equestrian qualifications. Driving license and own transport beneficial as we will be working in 2 different locations
drive with own transport as we have 2 locations. We are looking for mature, professional individuals who will lead by example. Rate of pay negotiable.

Pony Pursuits are finally returning to Shotover Country Park part time!! I feel quite daunted after 4 years away but on the flip side I am so excited to be coming back to one of the most beautiful, magical places I have had the pleasure to know! .s.lewis

OPENING THIS WEEKEND!!!Welcome to our new Guinea pig enclosure, thank you Ollee Koster at Koster Contracting, hopefully this will finally keep the little darlings in! Tbh we did give the females a trial run in the enclosure and it is so spacious that I think they thought that they had already escaped and didn't look to further their adventures 😂

Gosh I really don't even know where to start! after months of radio silence & procrastination; welcome to another long sporadic ramble that will go off on a multitude of tangents! Keep up if you can 🤣

I set up pony pursuits in the memory of a wonderful man Mr Bosley who made my childhood so special. I am council house born & bred & in no way ashamed of that, tbh it gave me the determination & tenacity to succeed in life. However, there were none of the safety nets that exist today & childhood was not full of days out, holidays & luxuries that parents pressure themselves to provide today. So when Mr Bosley came into our lives or perhaps us into his (my sister & I) he allowed us to care for his ponies as if they were our own & it was magical. My overwhelming passion for ponies was nurtured & every spare moment of my life I was "up at Mr Bosleys". He was a retired farmer with a wealth of knowledge who gave us a free pass into the elitist world of equestrianism with no financial obligation to be there! He was an inspiration & the basis of the Pony Pursuits philosophy "to provide a non elitist environment in which ponies are accessible to everyone regardless of age, experience & ability to pay.

We have been INCLUSIVE in so many ways, long before people spoke about inclusivity. I didn't realise until now that I was ahead of the game & finally at the ripe old age of (not telling you), I am extending that inclusivity to myself, after finally being diagnosed with Autism & ADHD the daily challenges I have faced along the way are starting to make more sense.

There were no support networkorks in place throughout my childhood, no guidance no understanding no focus on resilience. It started in school; being reprimanded, slapped & shouted at, this is where a child starts to feel disconnected & it shaped me as a person.

I feel sad that happy times were & still are ruined by perceived expectations, stress, guilt, over analysis, RSD, defensiveness etc

Years of being judged, labelled & misunderstood were triggering. As a result, I am Marmite!

Let's build a future where everyone can truly be themselves.
