Species spotlight!
If you have dived Sgeir A' Chuan with us, you might remember finding some of these wee treasures. Dropping down through the kelp, onto a small cliff and boulder slope to a clean seabed with coarse sand and mearl, there are loads of nooks and crannies to explore, usually in excellent vis. This selection of some of the smaller critters were photographed by Dr Keith Wilson on our Bath Sub-Aqua Club trip.
Off course there are usually octopus, a variety of crustacean including squat lobsters with beady eyes, and loads of shoaling fish, including cod! Do you have any images from this site to share?

This is the only way marine protection will work.
Bespoke solutions for different communities that engages with those people whose heritage is at sea and whose families futures are invested in the area. In this bottom-up approach, we can bring about collaboration and effective change for all of those living and working in the area, and by acting as responsible custodians, we can ensure a rich coastal and marine heritage for our generations that follow.
We look forward to this idea evolving.

At the heart of the PAF is our commitment to Community MPAs. We believe local groups are the most informed - and therefore best placed to act - groups when it comes to fighting for the future of healthy waters worldwide.

We are super excited to have undertaken ROV surveys of a very extensive and healthy Mearl bed local to our area with the assistance of Open SeasOpen Seas. Mearl is a priority marine feature protected in law for the vital part it plays in our . It creates an important , supports , provides an excellent for important and numerous other species. Simultaneously it does a great job of .

The survey reports will be written up, recorded on a national database and used to advocate for protection.

OCTOPUS in all their splendour by Keith Wilson of Bath Sub-Aqua Club .
East Cheshire Sub Aqua Club (ECSAC) this is what they look like. 😜
Incredibly and disappointingly, they didn't see a single octopus on their expedition, which is seriously unusual. We thought they were winding us up; they thought we were winding them up. ;-) ............and only a week earlier Aberdeen Sub Aqua Club BSAC 67 had asked "have you got someone going around before us dropping octopus down the shot-line!" (You need to share them now guys!)........... no-one can predict what you will see, which makes it even more special.
BUT octopus are usually high on the tick list!
We wonder where they went last week, ........... we hadn't given them time off - honest!

DOLPHINS still a delight!
It’s fantastic to still be seeing dolphins regularly on our trips. We saw these guys feeding on our way to Neist Pt and they weren't interested in playing. They were quick to join us on our return journey. Give them distance and respect and they will always give you fun.
