Big game tomorrow!

This Saturday its a Ayrshire derby for UCA as we make the trip to prestwick to face Fullarton Irvine. Previous encounters between the teams have always been hard fought, close battles and this weekend should be no different. UCA will need to be at it from the first whistle to the last if we want to take all 3 points and make it 4 wins from 4.

Disappointing result today for the boys.

We started brightly hitting the bar from a corner in the first 5 minutes, but then fell out of the game allowing Craighalbert to create plenty of attacking opportunities. We took the lead after some good pressure from our forward players forced the Craighalbert goalkeeper to rush his kick which was blocked by Finn Taylor to go straight into the net.
Craighalbert responded almost immediately with a goal from a corner where we failed to deal with the first and second ball. Just before half time Craighalbert got their second after a long ball caught us out and their number 9 calmly finished into the far corner.

In the second half we really dominated the play for most of it but just couldn't take any chances we created. Craighalbert had a few breakaway moments while we were pushing for the equaliser, but our keeper Kelvin, making his debut, pulled off a string of outstanding saves. With 2 minutes to go we hit the bar with a superb effort from Tommy. Almost with the last action of the game, Craighalbert broke again and scored their third.

First game of the season and what a start!

With a squad of 12 today - including the manager on the bench - the lads started brightly with Cookie scoring a freekick 4 minutes into the match from 30 yards out. Not long after that, a great delivery from Cookie put the keeper in all sorts of trouble with David Kerr getting his head/shoulder/ear to it to grab our second. Finn Taylor made it 3 after excellent pressure on their centre back who gifted possession for Finn to knock in the net. Before we hit the 20 minute mark, a lovely reverse pass from Ritchie found Finn on the edge of the area who took the ball in his stride and put it away with a composed finish. We had to endure a sticky spell 10 minutes before half time where we had to sit in and soak up some pressure. 4-0 HT

We came back out and started well, where we controlled the game for the most part. In the 59th minute we made it 5-0 when Peter read a pass and fed the ball to Finn who curled a shot in from 25 yards to complete his hat-trick. We had to play the last 15 minutes with 10 men due to injuries, but that didn't stop us from continuing to play our game. We got our 6th when Jason made a lung bursting run into the box and got first to a spilled save. 6-0 FT

Great scoreline for the boys in the first competitive game back, but even better workrate and togetherness shown today!

An absolute goalfest to finish off pre-season. Some really good play today as well from the lads.

Next week we open the league campaign away to South Glasgow FC which should be a tough tie!

Our final pre-season game before the competitive action starts.

A familiar opponent and one we last faced in our last game of the season to clinch the league title.

We found ourselves 1-4 down at half-time that day, but managed to come back in the second half to win the game 5-4!

Our penultimte pre-season fixture, will see us take on Girdle Victoria AFC. Sure to be a very tough test for the boys.

Game will take place at Prestwick Academy 12pm KO.

As predicted, goals galore!

Lads found themselves 0-2 down inside 5 minutes. It took us about 30 minutes to get into the game and got a goal back before the break.

A brilliant second half in which we controlled most of the game to run out 4-2 winners.

Tomorrow we take on a familiar opponent in Anniesland AFC. We will be playing in different divisions this year, but having played each other three times last season it should be a cracker with plenty of goals - 10-6 aggregate in our favour last year!

Kickoff 10am at Greenwood Academy, Irvine.
