A huge huge huge shout out and well-done to some of the team that took on the London, Brighton and Exeter marathon last month!

The training for something like this is relentless and takes a huge amount of time, commitment and strategy!

Last week was a huge one for the Kokoro Fitness team!

We saw 12 of our members take on the Cardiff Hyrox and to say they smashed it was an understatement!

Once upon a time, each and every one of these guys walked into the gym for the first time, not knowing that their consistent effort and determination would lead them to taking part in something like this!

And that's the moral of the story really...

Everybody starts somewhere, and if you ask any of these guys that they would be taking on competitions like this as a hobby on the weekends they probably would have laughed in your face 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

But it's not until you're in it that you can realise what you can do 👊🏻

Now what these guys have achieved is down to their own consistency and turning up despite motivation!

But this is where functional training really opens up doors!

Focusing on consistent structured strength training in an environment where you're supported and guided allows you to take on new challenges, meet new people and constantly surprise yourself 🙌🏻

A huge well done to the team! We look forward to seeing what you get up to next!

This will be a holiday cover role with the use of the facilities for Personal Training and the option of some consistent hours if wanted.

If you are new to the industry then we will train you up to the standards required to run classes safely and effectively, supporting you in becoming a leading coach.

Focusing on actions and not outcomes can be the deciding factor in you achieving your goals long term🤷🏻‍♂️

Of course we want to achieve the outcome, but if we only focus on the outcome we want and don't recognise the importance of the everyday choices and behaviours we make, then we can easily lose motivation and not recognise the wins we have on a daily basis.

In order to be truly consistent and achieve what we want for long-term health and wellness, the magic happens when we emphasise these small manageable actions we take everyday.

For example:

- Prioritising some sort of movement daily

- Understanding our sleep needs and fixing that routine

- Having intention with our meal choices

- Prioritising hydration

- Prioritising Protein, and Fibre

- Training even when we don't want too

- Less time scrolling

There are so many things we can list and talk about, which is why tacking only a handful at a time is important.

We have the movement and functional exercise covered. All you have to do is turn up and do the work guided by our coaches!

Are you training to failure?🧐

These two movements may appear similar, but the intention and the training stimulus are completely different.

Your first 2–3 reps should not look or feel the same as your final 2–3 reps when training with the appropriate intensity.

If they do, the set likely isn’t challenging enough to trigger meaningful adaptation.

Training close to (or to) failure isn’t about pushing irresponsibly — it’s about ensuring the muscle receives a strong enough signal to grow.

Why training to failure matters:
• Recruits high-threshold muscle fibers
• Creates sufficient mechanical tension
• Improves accuracy of effort and understanding of RPE
• Supports progressive overload
• Reduces unproductive volume

How do rep ranges & RPE fit into this???

In each training block, we use specific rep ranges and RPE targets to ensure you are consistently working at the right intensity!

• Rep ranges give you a structure to push within — enough reps to reach fatigue, but not so many that quality breaks down.

• RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) helps regulate effort. An RPE 8–10 means the set should feel significantly challenging, with only 0–2 reps left in the tank.

If the final reps don’t look noticeably harder than the first, the intended stimulus isn’t being reached.
