Something to be wary of...
βοΈ HOT WEATHER? THE WATER IS STILL COLD π
Warm air temperatures can make the sea and rivers look inviting, but cold water shock remains a serious risk - even on the hottest days. Sudden immersion can cause gasping, panic and difficulty breathing, putting even strong swimmers in danger.
Stay safe during this hot weather:
β
Enter the water slowly
β
Swim where others are nearby
β
Keep a close eye on family and friends
β
If you get into trouble: FLOAT TO LIVE
If you find yourself struggling in the water:
FLOAT TO LIVE:
β‘οΈ Tilt your head back
β‘οΈ Relax and control your breathing
β‘οΈ Move your hands and legs gently
β‘οΈ Spread you arms and legs for stability
β‘οΈ Once calm, call for help or swim to safety
π¨ In an emergency at the coast or along our rivers, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
At Felixstowe Lifeboat, we're here 'For the Safety of All'
