British Championship Qualification & Dispensation
The British Championships are a club and BMX Region-based event, and all competitors must be members of BC affiliated clubs in the BMX Region they have qualified through.
All riders, with the exception of those who have competed internationally in a championship class (UCI Junior, UCI U23 and UCI Elite) within the same calendar year as the British Championships, are required to qualify through their BMX Race Region's series.
All expert category riders must compete in five regional events in their primary class (20" or Cruiser) within the same BMX Region and three regional events in their secondary class. Current NSR squad and guest riders are only required to compete in three regional events in their primary class (20") within the same region (evidence of attendance at UEC/UCI events within the same year must be provided for each regional round missed). Current ODP riders have the option of completing two of their five events in a different BMX Region in their primary class or three events in their secondary class in more than one BMX Region.
Dispensation requests should go direct to Alyx Foreman - [email protected] before the 31st July.
Dispensation may be given for the following reasons: -
• Injury or illness with supporting evidence from a GP or specialist. The period of injury or illness must clearly state that it covers a set period of time between April and August of the current year. The period of injury will allow dispensation for each regional event held within that time. Only applications with GP letter or equivalent medical proof should be submitted to your BMX regional secretary. –
• National Championship riders competing overseas in UCI / UEC BMX Race events held on the same day as a regional event or on a prior weekend if competing at the UCI BMX Race World Championships.
• Examination periods for Secondary/Further/Higher education which has impacted the riders ability to attend the required rounds. Evidence of exam timetable must be provided.
• A current and valid British passport holder, who would normally reside in the UK, but based abroad during the months of April through to the end of August. If the period is not exclusive to the regional season, then available events must be attended.
• A payment of £15 per missed event up to a maximum of £75 must be sent to your region at the time of application
• A rider who is currently at university but resides outside of the region in which they are qualifying through. Riders will still be required to race five regionals but can compete in more than one region.
• No rider shall be included in the British Championship rider registration unless they have qualified and have been approved by their BMX regional registration officials.
