Learnings from the long run.

Sunday’s epic event with ASICS Running showed us so much about the spirit of our members and the power of running in a pack (like we needed reminding!)

For those who don’t know, we gave participants three hours at the iconic Debach Airfield to run as many laps of a 2.5km loop as they could.

Here’s what stood out to us.

‘If you want to go far, go together’ isn’t a throwaway clickbait quote, it’s real.

Taking even just a few seconds to try and lift someone else with words of encouragement while you’re running will do wonders for not just their willingness to keep going, but yours too.

Everyone’s limits are different, but no one’s is more significant than someone else’s. Putting yourself in a position to discover your potential with others is what matters.

Seeing friends achieve what they previously thought was impossible is rocket fuel for your own motivation.

…and when you think you’re done, more often than not, there’s always one more step, one more minute, one more kilometre you are capable of.

Power in the peaks 🗻
At Airborne Fit, May is for the mountains.

This month we’ve had a team head up the National Three Peaks and Yorkshire Three Peaks and both groups were a credit to us.

We all started and finished together and the spirit, determination and positivity was as always, incredible to witness for .performance.coach leading our teams.

We’ve been doing these challenges for our community since day one and every single time, the mountains prove an eye-opener for all who experience them.

They leave their mark on you and make everyday problems seem just that bit smaller and less significant when you return home.

Moments you’ll remember forever, in breathtaking places, shared with like-minded people.
That’s special.

Here’s five things we’ve taken away from seeing and speaking to our Airborne adventurers this year.

• You’re more resilient than you think.
Limits are often negotiated mentally before reached physically.

• Your attitude is contagious.
In the the mountains energy spreads quickly. Choose encouragement, calm and humour.

• You don’t need comfort to feel fulfilled.
Mountains strip you back to basics. We feel at peace when we are disconnected from our phones and connected to the great outdoors.

• If you want to go far, go together.
The peaks aren’t solo achievements. It highlights the importance of trust, positivity, selflessness and shared accountability

• A untapped version of yourself is waiting .
Mountains create perspective and gratitude.
Headspace and clarity for life back home.
You return to the mini bus physically tired but mentally clearer and in many ways, a different person.

A massive well done to everyone who conquered one of the challenges this past month 🙌

The Next Generation.

A weekend on from last Sunday’s Parent and Child HYROX simulation workout and seeing how much everyone loved it has brought us so much joy.

It doesn’t get much better than doing fitness alongside your greatest accomplishment.

The memories made and experience shared together. The example set. Strengthening your bond and making fitness such a normal and vital part of theirs and family life.
Something they love, look forward to and thrive doing.

These are the people and their stories that make Airborne Fit so special.

We’ve been blown away by the progress and growth of our incredible Nic Crown the past couple of years since she joined us.

We remember her first ‘Intro to Airborne’ class like it was yesterday. Fast forward to the woman we see now and it’s quite simply unrecognisable!

Powering to personal bests, flying through classes and genuinely inspiring so many around her everyday.

We caught up with Nic about her journey, how her mindset has changed, how important community is to staying consistent and what she would tell her old self before starting Airborne.

It’s not expensive kit, entering race after race or running yourself into the ground with an unsustainable training volume and intensity.

Marathon mania can sidetrack you. That’s natural.

But keep it simple and stay patient with the process of steady improvement.

Focus on what is within your control.

Have a plan.
Fuel your sessions properly.
Rest.
Strength train.

What an incredible past weekend we had in our Airborne Fit community.

Our amazing Manchester Marathon finishers: Adam, Alice, Sally, Katie, Helen and Kate. Chris, our Norfolk Marathon man.
Our dynamic Downing duo Toby and Elly with another colossal Ultra-Marathon under their belt. And of course, our very own coach Kat securing her HYROX World Championship spot in Stockholm lining up in the Elite 15 alongside her partner Jade.

Weekends like this are a great reminder to us of what really matters when the race is over.

• Your worth is in your hard work, not what the watch says on your wrist.

• It’s about the journey to the start line and what you learn about yourself and who you become.
Not what happens between the start and the finish.

• The personal pride in finishing what you started. Not giving up. Being stronger than the self doubt that inevitably creeps in.

• Being able to share these really special life moments with your loved ones cheering you on.

• The countless people you don’t even realise you’ve inspired to take their first steps out the door or set their next challenge.

• Personal bests are cool. But those internal feelings of pride are even better.

Achievements like this past weekend always hit home to us how lucky we are to have such an awesome group of individuals inspiring each other and our team every day at Airborne Fit.

A massive good luck to all those running the iconic London Marathon this coming Sunday. It’s a special moment, don’t forget to enjoy it!
