Apparently looking after your hormones requires a 5am wake-up, journalling, meditation, a workout, supplements, a perfectly balanced breakfast and probably drinking something green. 🙄

Or…

Maybe it looks like going to bed a bit earlier.

Eating something that actually fills you up.

Saying no when you’ve already got too much on.

Getting outside for ten minutes.

Drinking some water.

Doing one thing that makes today feel a little easier.

Looking after yourself doesn’t have to mean creating an elaborate routine you don’t have the time, energy or desire to maintain.

Your wellbeing shouldn’t become yet another job.

Agree or disagree?

This weekend I’m doing something I’ve never done before…

I’m having my first ever exhibition stand.

I’ll be at Life Arts Mind Body Spirit Festival in Ipswich all weekend with Suffolk Soul Coach, talking periods, hormones, perimenopause and generally all the things about our bodies that we really should have been taught years ago.

And apparently having my first ever stand wasn’t enough, because I’m also giving a talk on Sunday at 2.30pm.

Beyond Fear, Beyond Freezing: Trusting Your Body Through Every Season

I’ll be talking about hormones, icy water, my journey to the Winter Swimming World Championships, limiting beliefs and what can happen when we start learning to trust our bodies rather than constantly fighting them.

I’m excited.

I’m slightly terrified.

And I currently have an alarming amount of stuff in my house that apparently needs to become an exhibition stand by Saturday.

If you’re coming to Life Arts Festivals this weekend, come and say hello. Please do. It will make standing behind a table pretending I know what I’m doing considerably less awkward.

Nobody hands you a perimenopause manual.

Which is slightly inconvenient when your sleep changes, your anxiety appears from nowhere, your brain stops supplying perfectly ordinary words and you start wondering what on earth is happening to you.

And for lots of us, nobody ever taught us much about our hormones in the first place.

So these are some of the things I REALLY wish more people knew.

You don’t have to have hot flushes.

You don’t have to wait until you’re at breaking point to ask for help.

And you definitely don’t need to find the one mythical “perfect” perimenopause routine.

Your body is giving you information.

You deserve to understand it.

What do YOU wish someone had told you sooner?

Does looking after yourself ever feel like another massive to-do list?

Eat better. Move more. Sleep more. Stress less. Drink more water. Take the supplements. Do the morning routine…

It might all be well intentioned advice, but when you’re already exhausted and overwhelmed, where the hell are you supposed to start?

Start small.

One thing.
Try it.
Notice what happens.

Then decide whether it actually works for you.

That’s why I created my FREE 7 day Perimenopause SOS Plan. It’s not about doing perimenopause “perfectly”. It’s seven small things to experiment with so you can start noticing what genuinely makes a difference to how you feel.

If you fancy starting with just ONE thing, the free plan is waiting for you — link in my bio.

A little something to sit with this Sunday.

What has your body been trying to tell you lately that you haven’t been listening to?

Maybe it’s asking for more rest.

Maybe you’ve noticed a change in your cycle.

Maybe your energy isn’t what it used to be.

Maybe something just feels… different.

You don’t have to fix it today.

Just notice.

You can journal on it, think about it on a walk, or simply let the question sit with you for a while.

Sometimes noticing is where understanding starts.

Every time I talk about this stuff, I see the same faces…

The “Wait… WHAT?” face.

Because somehow we can reach our 30s, 40s and beyond without ever being taught some really basic things about our own bodies.

Like what menopause actually means.

That you can absolutely be in perimenopause while you’re still having periods.

That brain fog, sleep changes, joint aches, mood changes and changes to your s*x drive can all be part of the picture.

Or that, if you’re over 45 with typical symptoms, a hormone blood test often isn’t needed to diagnose perimenopause.

And that last one surprises a LOT of people.

This is why I’m so passionate about body literacy.

Because understanding what’s happening in your body doesn’t mean you have to become an expert in hormones.

It means having enough knowledge to notice when something changes, ask better questions and advocate for yourself when you need support.

Honestly… why are we only learning this now?!

How many of these did you already know?
