On Sunday we had a modest but deadly team of Vikings raiding into Essex for the final leg of the ERSA Summer League.
Brentwood is a difficult slope for those not familiar with it. Any mistakes mid section are punished and if you can’t generate speed through the turns on the flat you can loose seconds, not just tenths.
There were so many good performances with newcomers Molly, Imogen and Betsy finding their feet and putting in some solid runs.
In the U12 Sofia skied very well into 3rd, She also made it through to the semi finals in the U12 top 16.
Esme continued her U14 podium run with a 3rd and
in the boys Oscar scored a 3rd.
Madeleine was another Bronze winner, 0.25 off double act Antonia and Mille who drew for first.
Next up on the podium was Hans with a 2nd in U18, then Alex 2nd in MAS2, Bev 1st in MAS3 and a very big congrats to Phil with his first win in MAS4. Chris was a close second, feeling pleased that he now has a team mate to push him.
Team racing was next and the Children’s A of Madeleine, Josh, Oscar, Esme and Kitty were within a whisker of repeating their victory at our home race. They just missed out in a very close final with Norfolk.
In the top 16 minis, Sofia was a semi finalist, Madeleine lost out in the semis and Alex was leading in the final of the men’s top 16 all the way to the last gate where he somehow got his pole between his legs and straddled.
We are so lucky to be part of ERSA where the level of competition is incredible. In most categories you are up against National Champions so, even though this is a regional race, if you are competitive in ERSA you will still be right up there in Club Nationals, GBRs and national races.
