Colts got off to a flier going 3-0 up inside the first 5 mins and never really looked back from there. Dads v Lads matches seem to get harder and harder for the Dads every year as we all get older and the lads continue to develop as a stronger team.
All in all, a well deserved win for the Lads!

The day also signified the End of an Era for Colts 2001’s, so the occasion was marked with a celebratory post-match BBQ and refreshments - thank you all who came along and made it the Special day that it was!

The team may be finished but the journey is far from over! 🏆⚽️🍺🍾

U19 Supplementary A League

Firstly, congratulations to Hermes who secured the U19 Supplementary A League with this win - well deserved and well done!

This was the final game of the season for both teams, played on a beautiful sunny evening on a decent sized juniors pitch. Colts found themselves 2-0 down inside the first 20mins from a couple of sloppy goals, but pulled one back mid-way through the first period when Colts Captain Tom ADAMS latched onto a quality through pass to poke the ball calmly past the stranded Hermes keeper. 2-1

Hermes stretched their lead to 3-1 on the half hour mark then finished the 1st period strongly with another 3 goals in the last 5 mins of the half. A 5 goal deficit was never going to be easy to overcome, however the way the Colts players approached the 2nd half was admirable and a real demonstration of the strength of character in the team, as well as the ability to adapt to different formations and positions following a half-time reshuffle of the pack.

Hermes went 8-1 up with 15 mins still remaining on the clock following another well taken strike and a penalty kick. Colts ended the game strongly when Phelim McNALLY flicked on a header with his back to goal on the 6 yard line, making the final score line 8-2.

In general, it showed that this was Colts’ first game in the last 3 weeks as match fitness and sharpness was lacking and tiredness set-in early as a consequence of the expansive pitch and evening heat. That being said, the players gave it everything they had and left the pitch with their heads held high in terms of what they put into the game.

This game also signified the end of Colts 2001s as we all know it as most players will be moving on next season to progress their further education and careers. A huge thanks to all players, parents and families for all your support, encouragement, loyalty and trust over the past few years - without you, the club is nothing - Well Done!
