The Working Puppy Company Puppy training in Aberdeenshire for dogs of all breeds and ages! Puppy training takes time, patience, understanding, calmness and consistency.

All our training is outside, in the place where you need to teach them to behave most! We have all breeds of dog come to class. Although you may not want to work your dog or have a working breed, we aim to achieve the same end result – an obedient and well behaved puppy having covered sit, stay, recall and heel work. All dog training classes are held on a farm ‘Wester Fintray’ just outside Kintore

which is beautiful setting. We have a range of private training ground available to us from the floodlit paddock which is a small fully enclosed area for younger dogs, to larger more open area for gundog work.

Our lovely Purdey has welcomed her Auchentore ‘J’ litter, and we need your creativity. We’re looking for the perfect ‘J’ names for her gorgeous pups, and we want you to help choose them so we are going to run a small competition!

🐾 Novice Gundogs Pushing Their Skills This Week

We stretched the Novice Gundogs group a little further this week by taking them into some heavier cover and working on taking a clean line on a blind retrieve (that’s a dummy the dog hasn’t seen being placed).
I just missed getting a video of Claire and Bria (next week, promise!), but here are two brilliant examples from today. Willow holding her line beautifully through the cover. Gunner taking on the blind with confidence and commitment.

All the dogs showed great focus and drive. Exactly what we want to see as they learn to work at distance without relying on their eyes.

Cody is a strong and driven black Labrador. He joined Fun Gundogs with plenty of natural ability but very little direction. His enthusiasm was clear, but without structure he was pulling his owners around and struggling to stay connected.

Through consistent training over the last 5 weeks, clear communication, and giving him meaningful work, Cody is learning to channel his drive with purpose.

He now:
💡Maintains focus on lead
⬆️ Works retrieves with intent
📶 Stays engaged on walks
💪 Builds stronger connection with his owners

He’s a fantastic example of what happens when a dog’s natural instincts are guided, not suppressed.
