Extreme Weather Creating Extra Work for Greenkeepers

Scotland's increasingly unpredictable weather continues to present new challenges for greenkeeping teams.

Regular aeration plays a vital role in keeping our surfaces firm, healthy, and free-draining, whilst also helping to reduce the risk of turf diseases such as Dollar Spot, which is becoming more common as summers become warmer and more humid.

Extended periods of hot, dry weather can stress the turf and create dry patches, while storms often leave behind fallen branches and debris that require attention. Heavy rainfall can quickly flood areas of the course, leaving greens and bunkers under water, and unusual temperature swings can make it difficult to maintain consistent growing conditions.

These weather-related challenges add to an already demanding maintenance programme, but the team continues to work hard to ensure the course remains in the best possible condition for members and visitors to enjoy.

🏆 Club Championship 2026 🏆

Congratulations to all of our competitors who took part in this year's Club Championships and helped make it another fantastic weekend of golf at Kemnay Golf Club.

A special congratulations goes to Ian Bratton, who claimed the Gents Club Championship title for the very first time, producing some excellent golf to become our new Club Champion.

In the Ladies Club Championship, Fiona Pennie once again demonstrated her class and consistency, securing the title for an incredible 8th time. A remarkable achievement and testament to her outstanding record in the championship.

Well done to Ian, Fiona, and all of our prize winners. We would also like to thank everyone who competed, supported, volunteered, and helped make the championship such a success.

🔥 Friday Night
Join us for our BBQ, Quiz & Football Night. Enjoy great food, a football-themed quiz, live World Cup action and a late bar. The perfect way to start the weekend with friends and family.

🏆 Saturday
The final round of both the Gents and Ladies Club Championships takes place as competitors battle it out for Club honours. We wish all players the very best of luck.

Our Medal Competition takes centre stage, alongside a Junior Golf Sixes event as we welcome young golfers from across the region to Kemnay Golf Club.

🍽️ Father's Day at the Clubhouse
Treat Dad to a special Father's Day meal in the clubhouse, with a delicious menu available and a complimentary pint for Dad. Booking is recommended and we'd love to welcome you and your family to celebrate with us.

⛳💙 Good Luck Steven! 💙⛳

Kemnay Golf Club member and valued corporate partner Steven from Mathieson Financial Services Ltd is currently taking on the incredible challenge of The Big Golf Race in support of Prostate Cancer UK.

Steven will be attempting to play 72 holes of golf today– that's four full rounds, thousands of steps, and a huge test of both physical and mental endurance – all to raise money for a charity that continues to make a real difference to the lives of men and their families across the UK.

Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, and fundraising events like this help support vital research, awareness, and lifesaving work.

We're incredibly proud to support Steven in this challenge and wish him every success as he takes on the miles, the weather, and hopefully a few birdies along the way!
