VICTORIA MCLEOD
Teacher & QS National 5 / Higher Dance Coordinator

Victoria started her dance journey right here in Evolution before continuing her professional dance and teacher training at Dance For All College, Edinburgh.

Now a very important part of our teaching team, Victoria brings her energy and fantastic versatility to a wide range of classes, including Acrobatic Arts, Jazz, Commercial, Hip Hop, Tap and Modern. Always up to date with the latest moves and trends, Victoria keeps her classes fresh, exciting and full of fun.

Alongside her teaching at Evolution studio, Victoria is our Qualifications Scotland National 5 / Higher Dance Leader / Coordinator delivering our partnership programme with Inverurie Academy. She teaches students undertaking National 5 and Higher Dance, helping them develop their technique, performance skills, creativity and confidence throughout the programme.

The programme continues to go from strength to strength, with a fantastic intake of students this year, a real reflection of the success and growth of this important partnership.

Having experienced the Evolution journey herself as a young dancer, Victoria has a wonderful connection with our pupils and understands just how special it is to learn, grow and develop within the Evolution family. Victoria is a much-loved member of the Evolution team! 💜✨

We at Evolution are deeply saddened by the passing of Sir Richard Alston CBE, a true visionary whose extraordinary contribution to British contemporary dance will forever inspire generations.

Across an extraordinary career spanning more than half a century, Richard created over 200 dances and influenced generations with his musicality and artistry. He will be remembered equally for his warmth, humour, kindness and generosity.

On a personal note our Revolution Youth Company was incredibly fortunate to be scouted by Sir Richard, who later invited our dancers to perform a number of times as curtain raisers alongside his Richard Alston Dance Company. These were for his world premieres of his new choreography. We were also very honoured to experience masterclasses with Richard and to have our students guided and inspired by him over the years.

Our deepest love and condolences go to Richard’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire dance community.

Thank you Sir Richard, for believing in our Revolution Youth Company dancers, for sharing your extraordinary artistry with us and for everything you gave to the world of dance. Your influence and legacy will live on through generations to come.

Rest in peace, Sir Richard ♥️

ALISON HENDERSON
Senior Teacher & Early Years Coordinator

Alison is one of our highly experienced Senior Teachers and leads our Early Years Programme here at Evolution.

With a vast amount of teaching experience across all ages and stages, Alison teaches everyone from our very youngest dancers taking their first steps, right through to our Vocational Level students. Alison is very passionate about all her classes she teaches ranging from ballet, tap, modern and more.

As our Early Years Coordinator, Alison oversees our Specialist Early Years curriculum, supports our teaching team and monitors pupil development, ensuring our youngest dancers receive a joyful, nurturing and structured start to their Evolution dance journey.

Her warmth, experience and passion for developing confident young dancers make her an invaluable part of the Evolution team💜✨

We absolutely loved welcoming Alumni Ciara & Emma back to teach over the weekend💜💜

Both are now living and professionally training in London, heading into their second year of degree studies. Emma at London Studio Centre and Ciara at Performers College.

It is always so special having our students home, sharing their experience and inspiring the next generation. We are so proud of all their hard work and everything they are achieving. Keep shining girls, we love having you back visiting your Evolution Dance Family💜✨

We currently have enough lost water bottles to open our own shop!!💧

From trusty old favourites to bottles that look suspiciously brand new, they are all sitting patiently in lost property waiting to be collected.

It is one of those moments that reminds us what it is all about….the younger ones looking up to the senior dancers they aspire to be and our seniors unknowingly inspiring the next generation.

Seeing our juniors completely captivated and inspired by what they see on stage are the moments in the wings we all love so much🫶🏻

And one day they will be the seniors inspiring the next generation. This is what makes show time so special💜✨
