Karen Powell's Highland Pilates and Nordic Walking

Karen Powell's Highland Pilates and Nordic Walking Karen's Pilates Classes in Pilates, Hanna Somatic movement and Nordic Wallking activites, in and around Inverness, Drumnadrochit and Dingwall.

Hello everyone...I'd like to help encourage everyone to enjoy Pilates and movement. Since Joseph Pilates first designed this innovative movement technique, it has been developing ever since. So many different styles of teaching Pilates have been introduced, however it still holds its essence, increasing awareness, balance, coordination, posture and strength. It is possible to enjoy its benefits and with time and practise it can change the way you move and feel about your body. I have loved the benefits of Pilates since I started practising it for myself in 1999. It was first recommended to me as a way of developing my core stability after many injuries from running and hypermobile joints. I have now been teaching Pilates since 2004, and it is part of my life. Nordic Walking is a technique using specifically designed poles, to enhance natural walking. It complements with Pilates so very well. I am including any relevant links to Nordic Walking on this page too. I teach classes in the Highlands of Scotland, in Inverness, Drumnadrochit, the Great Glen and Dingwall and will update everyone with information about current and future lessons on this page.

Did you know that this is what Nordic Walking can do for you?
Once you've learnt the technique of walking with poles, you'll never look back!

Nordic walking is not a trend. It is one of the smartest ways to train.

Runner’s World UK breaks it down. Nordic walking turns a simple walk into a full-body workout. You increase heart rate, build strength, and improve endurance without the impact of running.

Read more here:

Using poles properly means:
• More muscles working with every step
• Higher calorie burn than regular walking
• Better posture and movement efficiency
• A session that feels easier, but delivers more

The difference comes down to technique.

At British Nordic Walking, every step is taught using the INWA 10 Step Method™, giving you structure, purpose, and results from the start.
