"Counties" is a warm friendly club that welcomes new members of all shapes, sizes and abilities. The diversity of our membership is our strength

and it is what unites us on and off the pitch. The club competes in all of the North of Scotland Cricket Association league and cup competitions.

🏏 Weekend Match Report🏏

Unfortunately, the weather got the better of our senior side's trip to Forres on Saturday, with the match being called off without a ball being bowled 🌧️☔

Thankfully, Sunday brought much improved conditions as our Development XI made the journey to Dornoch for a tough test 💪

Batting first, Counties dug in to post a battling 139 all out. There were valuable contributions throughout the innings, with Geoff, Grant and Hamza all helping to give us something to bowl at 👏🏏

With the ball, Hamza continued his promising start to life at Northern Counties, bowling with great discipline and keeping things tight 🎯

Despite a determined effort in the field from the whole team, 139 always looked a little light and Dornoch's batting line-up proved difficult to contain. The hosts eventually reached their target with seven wickets to spare.

🏏 Senior League Cricket This Saturday

Northern Counties are back in league action this Saturday as we travel to Forres to take on Forres CC at Grant Park.

🏏 T20 Day – Cooper Park, Elgin

Northern Counties got their day underway against Forres, who had lost their opening match to Elgin.

Bowling first, Counties put in a disciplined performance to restrict Forres to 108/7 from their 20 overs. The wickets were shared around the bowling attack, with regular breakthroughs preventing Forres from building any real momentum.

In reply, Lewis and Matt gave us the ideal start, putting the pressure straight back on the opposition. Alex then led the chase with an excellent unbeaten 47*, helping Counties reach the target comfortably with overs to spare.

The second game against Elgin would prove to be a much tighter affair, with a place in the final at stake.

Counties again bowled first and performed well to restrict Elgin to 143. Matty and Eshan picked up key wickets in an innings where both bat and ball had their moments, leaving us a challenging but achievable chase.

Lewis and Matt once again provided a solid platform at the top of the order. After 9 overs, Counties were 45 without loss, but there was still plenty of work to do.

As the required rate increased, the scoring rate followed, but wickets began to fall and the game remained finely balanced. Needing 58 from the final four overs, the task looked a difficult one.

Eshan kept Counties in the hunt with some important boundaries, ensuring the required rate never got completely out of reach. Going into the final over, 12 runs were needed for victory.

The game went right down to the final ball, with Eshan and Sammy keeping their composure under pressure. Needing 2 runs from the last delivery, they managed to get Counties over the line and secure a memorable win.

Two good team performances on the day and a place in the final secured.

After a month away from action, our Development Team is finally back this Sunday for a big Development Cup clash against Inverness neighbours Highland! 🏏🔥

🏏 After an excellent win before the rain arrived last Saturday, our Senior side will be looking to continue their good form in the Senior T20 this weekend! 💪

The action takes place at Cooper Park, Elgin, with both Elgin and Forres competing alongside us for a place in the T20 Final later in the season. 🏆

📅 Match Schedule:
🕥 10:30am – Elgin vs Forres
🕜 1:30pm – Our Seniors vs the loser of the opening match
🏏 Followed by – Our Seniors vs the winner of the opening match

The team that comes out on top across the day's fixtures will secure their place in the T20 Final. 🔥
