Last week Sandy, Scott and Gavin rode one of our favourite routes, a big loop over the Corrieyairack Pass from Fort Augustus and the Burma Road from Aviemore.
Interestingly, we were on three completely different bike setups and three different tyre choices, all three were equally capable of handling a ride like this!
Sandy was riding the Trek Check-OUT , a full suspension gravel bike, the ultimate bike for long days off road. Efficient on any surface and capable of carrying loads of gear. Rolling on 2.1”Continental Race Kings and a Shimano GRX 1x12 mechanical drivetrain.
Scott was on his Specialized Epic Hardtail with drop bars! Drop bars on a mountain bike is a controversial choice but there’s no denying it is fun to ride. Running XC race tyres in the 2.4” Vittoria Peyotes and SRAM Rival/GX transmission drivetrain.
Gavin was on his Specialized Crux. An outright super light gravel race bike with 50mm Schwalbe G-One RX Pro tyres and a Shimano GRX Di2 1x12 drivetrain.
