Club competition The John Lewis Triples 2026 concluded tonight. Congratulations to Peter (Skip), Gavin and George D.
Very close game & some lovely bowling from both sides. Enjoyable watch for the spectators. Could have gone either way.

Bowls Scotland District 1 Scottish Qualifiers commenced this week. Mixed Pairs started last Sunday but the bulk of the competitions, in the Gents draw anyway, got under way Thursday. Play at greens across the length and breadth of the district, in 7 disciplines, saw local teams from Glenurquhart, The Inverness, Fraser Park and Planefield Bowling Clubs progress. Lots more games to come. Round 2 games next Thursday 4th June at 2pm and 7pm. Look out for games at local greens. Good luck to everyone.

Delay in getting this out so we won't mention the Seniors League game against Glenurquhart in Drum yesterday 🫣 Just sufficient to say well done the home team, a full 6 points!

As you will see, we are playing newcomers to the league, St Ninian from Nairn next week. We extend them a warm welcome and look forward to our home game on Monday 1st June. Yes June 1st... Where is the year going? The I&DBA Pairs competition continues tomorrow, but Jenny & Johnnie weren’t so lucky in their games tonight.

Members - usual Wednesday evening game on unless you hear otherwise 😎

Our first club competition of 2026, The MacDonald Pairs concluded last night.

Played over two nights, 9 pairs knockout format over 10 ends a game. A close final between James N (S) and Peter S (L) v George S (S) and Neil L (L) - with the latter pair victors. Congratulations 🙌 🏆

Sunshine and showers on Saturday but we had a good day with our friends from Glenurquhart for the Kate Macdonald Memorial Trophy match.

Thanks to Lemeze and Dougie for their posts and thoughts of the day.

The raffle at the weekend, raised £133 which was great! It was donated in Kate’s name to another local community hub in the Merkinch are The Clay Studio.

We were proud to have held the first memorial game at WBC - and winning for Kate but it could be very different next year! Kate loved her bowls. Did anyone notice her bowls were on the green on Saturday? They remain in the club, donated and one of our new ladies, Jean, is playing with them till she finds her feet.

It was nice to see Sadie ex member and good friend of Kate’s come and present the trophy. Sharing some lovely memories about Kate and that was a lovely touch. We do miss her! She did so much for the club.

Dougie helped out with raffle. That was often Kate’s job. We’d have a laugh, with that old tumbler which is still doing the job!

The green has been closed over the winter months so we have been a bit quieter than usual on here but we are looking forward to seeing some of you at our AGM this Saturday 31st Jan 2026, 2pm in the clubhouse. All members and prospective members we met last year, duly invited. Please come along if you can

THE World Indoor Bowls Championships 2026 have now ended after a dramatic final at Potters Resorts.

Robert Paxton narrowly beat Paul Foster MBE in a thrilling tie break to claim the second open singles title of his career. If you missed out on watching it you can watch it again on the link below 📺
