Final day for our Austrian Alpine Club (UK) course and a break in the weather meaning we could put some things into practice, teams headed to the Spur, Sgùrr a Mhadaidh and Sgùrr a Ghreadaidh & Sgurr Sgumain with teams all leading the way with coaching on the move. Still not great weather on top but a vast improvement, warm enough to see an adder on the footpath though. That’s the last of this year’s AACUK summer courses with plenty of people on course learning and putting it into practice, largely questionable weather but that’s Scotland.

Well it was looking pretty wild on Skye today for the hills so we head to Neist point with our Austrian Alpine Club (UK) team for a day on the ropes. Very windy but stayed largely dry and sunny. We divided into teams working around the The Green Lady stacks and ground above. A wild spot with remote feel. No sea life spotted but we did spot a submarine, hopefully one of ours!

It’s the .alpine.club.uk Skye scrambling course, of course it is it’s wet and windy!! We had a low run round Coire Laggan having a look at few essentials along with Lochan Traverses and ground around the Sgumain chute. Not the driest of days and some pretty strong gusts even low down. Lovely team so whatever the weather we shall get some skills and things covered over the weekend.

I was out with a somewhat short lived trip to the crag, approximately 30 minutes at Duntelchaig before the dry and warm indoor option was taken. Daniel was visiting from the States and pulled in via a ship this morning but unfortunately last nights very heavy lingered on into the day.

Sunny in the Cairngorms for a round of afterthought arête via the Twin Ribs and Fiachaill Ridge. Maja and Aga where out with Robin some nice dry rock making for nice training day ahead of a traverse of the Cuillin Ridge in the spring.

Busy day in the Cuillin with Elliot completing his remaining Munros on the ridge with the two Northern tops Am Bastier and Sgurr Nan Gillian. Further along the ridge was James who was out with Rob who was keen to tick the Inaccessible Pinnacle along with Sgurr Nan Gillian. A calmer day than yesterday.

A turbulent day in the Cuillin, the forecasted brighter day didn’t quite materialise but some big days for the two teams.
Louis with Kerri headed from Eag to Sgurr Mhic Choinnich and Ella with Morag and Stuart Eag to Bannadich. The weather though being pretty windy and clagged in but a great effort by all.

A bit chilly in the Corrie’s but dry and bright with Ollie and Graeme. We looked at all sorts of mountaineering ropework going up and down and also some problem solving and retreating. The sun was out and the Corrie empty which made for a nice day out.
