⚽️ Swifts Women vs Edinburgh South ⚽️

The Swifts Women played their second game of the season on Friday night, taking on a talented Edinburgh South side in some seriously windy conditions! 🌬️⚽️

Edinburgh South started the stronger of the two teams, enjoying plenty of early possession and creating a few opportunities. The Swifts took a little time to settle into the game and find their rhythm.

Thankfully, Saldi was in fantastic form between the sticks, producing her best performance to date and making some excellent saves to keep us in the game. 🧤👏

Edinburgh South eventually found the breakthrough with some good football to take a 1–0 lead. The Swifts didn’t let their heads drop, though, and continued to battle. Elaine came close to an equaliser before the break, but unfortunately couldn’t find the target.

🔥 Second Half

A slight change in formation saw the Swifts come out flying in the second half. Elaine and Jodie worked brilliantly together in midfield, supported by the tireless running of Laura.

The Swifts began creating chances and it felt like a goal was coming…

And eventually it did! 🙌

A great ball down the wing from Laura found Jodie, who drove at the Edinburgh South defence. With support arriving in the box and everyone calling for the cross, the goalkeeper was expecting Jodie to deliver.

But Jodie had other ideas! 😏

Spotting the keeper slightly out of position, she produced a fantastic delicate outside-of-the-foot finish that found the back of the net to make it 1–1. ⚽️🔥

The Swifts pushed on, with Adele and Yvonne causing problems up front and creating a couple of chances as we searched for the winner.

Then, with only minutes remaining, came an absolute moment of magic! ✨

Ellie pounced on a second ball in midfield, spotted the goalkeeper off her line and unleashed a strike from just past halfway!

The ball sailed over the keeper and into the net. 🚀⚽️

2–1 Swifts!

An unbelievable goal and one that was certainly worthy of winning the game… although Ellie might want to work on that celebration! 😂

The final minutes were nervy as Edinburgh South pushed for an equaliser, with Pam, Boozy, Fairy Lauren and Demi working tirelessly at the back to keep them out. The whole team dug deep, at one stage defending our box with everything they had.

Then came the final whistle! 🏁

A fantastic 2–1 victory for the Swifts Women after a competitive and hard-fought game.

Plenty to work on, plenty to improve, but most importantly a brilliant team performance, great character and three points to show for it. 💙⚽️👏

⚽️ Swifts Sirens U12s Match Report ⚽️

The Sirens took on East Fife in a really tight and competitive game, with both teams giving everything from the first whistle. 🔥⚽️

Both sides had early chances, but the two goalkeepers were on top form, making some excellent saves to keep the score level.

Halfway through the first half, East Fife managed to break the deadlock and take the lead. The Sirens responded brilliantly, turning up the pressure and putting East Fife under some serious pressure as they searched for the equaliser. Despite creating chances, the girls just couldn’t find that final touch needed to get the ball in the net.

Into the second half and the game was still very much there for either team to win. The Sirens were defending superbly, playing some fantastic football and creating chance after chance. 👏

East Fife’s goalkeeper was having an outstanding game, pulling off some great saves to keep her team in front.

The final 5–10 minutes saw the Sirens completely dominate, with East Fife struggling to get out of their own half as the girls threw everything at finding an equaliser. Unfortunately, the goal just wouldn’t come.

Despite the result, the Sirens were absolutely class from start to finish. The effort, football and determination shown throughout the game were fantastic, and there is so much to be proud of. 💙👏

A brilliant performance from Murron, who fully deserved the award. 👏🌟

Well done Sirens! Keep playing football like that and the goals will come. 💙⚽️🔥

🏆⚽ U14 East League Plate Final ⚽🏆

Saturday saw Storms take on their biggest game to date — the U14 East League Plate Final.

Storms knew they faced a tough challenge against a very good Scone Thistle side from the league above.

Scone started the game strongly and caused Storms a few problems, but Eva was outstanding in goal, making some excellent saves to keep the scores level. Scone eventually got the breakthrough when a shot came back off the crossbar, unfortunately hitting Eva on the back before trickling into the net.

Storms gradually grew into the game and created a couple of chances, but the Scone defence and goalkeeper stood strong to keep Storms at bay, sending the teams into half-time with Scone leading 1-0.

The second half saw Storms grow into the game even more. The girls created a few opportunities but just couldn't find the finish they needed. Scone continued to play some excellent football and caused Storms problems, eventually doubling their lead after Storms failed to clear a corner, with Scone finishing with a lovely strike to make it 2-0.

Storms didn't let their heads drop and continued to play some good football, creating chances and pushing to get themselves back into the game.

Their hard work was rewarded when Rachael was fouled inside the box to earn Storms a penalty. Rachael stepped up and calmly finished from the spot to make it 2-1, with around 10 minutes remaining. ⚽

With their tails up, Storms pushed hard to find an equaliser, but unfortunately they were caught on the counter a couple of minutes later, with Scone finishing well to make it 3-1.

Storms continued to battle until the final whistle, but there wasn't enough time to find the goals needed to take the game to penalties.

💙💛 Not to be for Storms, but the coaches couldn't be prouder of the girls.

To reach a League Plate Final is a fantastic achievement in itself, and every single one of the girls played their part in getting us there. They worked incredibly hard, showed great determination and represented the club with pride on the biggest stage they have faced so far.

There was no single Girl of the Game from the coaches because we felt every girl deserved the award for their hard work, effort and commitment throughout the game — and for helping this team reach a final. 🏆👏

🌟 Well done girls — you should all be incredibly proud of what you've achieved.

Congratulations to Scone Thistle on winning the Plate, and we wish them all the very best for the rest of the season. 👏⚽

The girls were treated on Sunday with Pizza and Chips as a well done for their achievement of reaching the final. Thanks to Marytn at Hugos for allowing the girls along for their reward. 🍕🍟

A massive good luck to our U14 Storms girls as they head through to Blairgowrie to take on Scone Thistle in the East League Plate Final this morning.

A huge achievement for the girls to get this far and they’ll be looking to go one step further and bring the plate home!💛💙

⚽💛💙 Storms 5-2 Carnoustie 💛💙⚽

Saturday saw Storms take on a tough Carnoustie side at Sunny warm Bally in the league, in what was a great test and preparation ahead of next Saturday’s League Plate Final. 🏆

Storms started brightly and took the lead after just four minutes. Sophie broke through and calmly placed a great strike past the keeper to make it 1-0. Carnoustie responded well and caused Storms a few problems, creating chances to get back into the game.

Their best opportunity came from the penalty spot after Carnoustie were awarded a penalty. It was well taken, but Eva guessed the right way and produced an excellent save to keep Storms in front. 🧤👏

Storms continued to play some good football and created chances to extend their lead, including a shot that came crashing back off the crossbar. The second goal eventually came after a bit of a stramash in the box, with Zoe getting the slightest of touches at the back post to make it 2-0.

Carnoustie continued to battle and were rewarded with a really good finish to pull a goal back. Storms then regained their two-goal advantage after Sophie was fouled in the box and a penalty was awarded. Sophie dusted herself down and confidently converted from the spot to make it 3-1. ⚽

The goals kept coming before half time. A superbly delivered corner found Rachael at the back post, and she finished brilliantly to make it 4-1. Carnoustie weren't giving up and grabbed another with three minutes of the half remaining, leaving the score 4-2 to Storms at half time.

A slight change at the back saw Imogen move into centre-back for the second half, and she was excellent in the role. She gave the Carnoustie striker very little time or space throughout the half. 👏

Storms continued to play some excellent football after the break, creating chances and moving the ball really well. A lovely through ball then sent Rachael racing clear of the defender, and she calmly finished to grab her second of the game and make it 5-2. ⚽🔥

Both teams continued to give everything until the final whistle, but Storms held on to secure a 5-2 victory.

A really good game and exactly the type of test we wanted ahead of next Saturday's League Plate Final. 🏆💛💙

It was a joint award this week.

Sophie — her usual busy self, never stopping and causing the Carnoustie defence problems throughout. A goal, a penalty and another excellent performance. 👏

Millie — having been adapting to a new role at right-back, Millie is really starting to make the position her own. She was solid throughout and put in another excellent performance today. 💪

⚽️ Dunfermline v Sambas 💙💛

The girls were back in action for their first Tier 1 fixture of the second block, taking on a much older and physical Dunfermline side in what proved to be a fantastic test for the Sambas. 👏

First Half

The Sambas started brightly and were unlucky not to take an early lead, showing plenty of attacking intent from the opening whistle.

Dunfermline then caught us on the counter with their first attack before going on to put the girls under sustained pressure. Despite battling hard, the hosts managed to find the net several times, leaving the Sambas heading into the break feeling understandably deflated.

Second Half

But what came next was fantastic. 🔥

The first 10–15 minutes of the second half were probably some of the best football we’ve played. The girls came out with a completely different attitude, moving the ball with confidence and playing some brilliant one-touch football that Dunfermline really struggled to cope with.

Annie got the Sambas on the scoresheet with a powerful strike after a sublime cross from Rosie. ⚽️👏

We quickly found another after some fantastic footwork from Girl of the Game Isla, who then fed the ball into Amy. Amy kept her cool and finished brilliantly. ⚽️🔥

Suddenly, the Sambas were right back in the game and pushing hard for another goal. It felt like it was only a matter of time.

One fantastic flowing move started with the goalkeeper and involved almost every single Sambas player before the final effort went narrowly wide. It was fantastic football from back to front and exactly the style of football we’re trying to develop. 👏🔥

Unfortunately, Dunfermline caught us on the counter late on and managed to find the net again to put the game beyond us.

Overall

The result might not have gone our way, but there were loads of positives to take from this performance.

The new-found style of playing from the back is really starting to pay off, and the girls are becoming more confident in playing football with purpose, patience and bravery.

The Sambas earned plenty of plaudits from everyone watching for their approach, commitment and willingness to play football the right way. 💙⚽️👏

Our U14 Storms Girls are heading into the East League Plate Final on Saturday 5th September, with a 10am kick-off at Davie Park, Blairgowrie.

It’s a fantastic achievement for the girls to reach the Final, and now they need your support! 🙌
