🧡 A heartfelt thank you from Insch Cycling Club 🧡
Thank you so much to every single person who joined us for this year’s Insch by Insch 200 and Half Insch 100 Audaxes. You made it a truly brilliant day and helped us achieve a record number of entries.
This year also marked Audax UK’s 50th anniversary, and we were delighted that 50% of those entering the Half Insch 100 were women. We also welcomed a record six women to the 200 km event, hopefully that number will continue to grow!
I had planned to ride but pulled out at the last minute and decided to take photographs instead. I’m honestly so glad I did, because it gave me the chance to chat with so many lovely people throughout the day. There were lots of waves, plenty of smiles and such a warm atmosphere wherever I met you along the routes.
It’s going to take me a wee while to work through and edit all the photographs, but at least I get to relive the fun all over again while I do it! 📸
To all the familiar faces, thank you for coming back and for your incredibly kind words. To everyone who joined us for the first time, we really hope you felt, and loved, the special spirit of the Insch Audax. It may be a challenging day on the bike, but the warmth, encouragement, camaraderie and mountain of home baking are what make it ours.
None of this happens without an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. A huge thank you to Alan Callow for everything he does to organise and grow these events, and to all our wonderful volunteers who baked, prepared food, worked in the kitchen and at the control, welcomed riders and stayed behind to clear up.
Special thanks to our catering superstar Ingrid Penny, to Marie for managing the kitchen on the day, and to Sam Bedford, Emma Cruickshank’s mum, Niall MacLachlan, Eleanor, James Buckingham and Kevin Ryrie for providing such a fabulous spread. Thank you also to Roger Buckingham for staying behind to help with the clear-up.
Events like this are about far more than kilometres, climbing and brevet cards. They are about people—and you all made this one very special.
Thank you for riding, volunteering, smiling, waving and being part of it. We truly hope to welcome you all back again next year. 🧡🚴♀️🚴♂️🍰
