Y'know, it's about this time of year when most people start to think 'sh*t, I need to get fit for Christmas'

But let's be real for a second...

How many times have you said that in the past?

First it's 'i need to get fit for Christmas'

Then 'i need to get fit for summer'

Then it's a wedding

Or a party

And it always goes the same way right? You're super motivated to start, set unrealistic goals and start unsustainable habits, only for it all to become too much.

I know, because I work with people who do this all the time.

But think about this for a second...

Rather than going hell for leather to be 'fitter' for these one off events...

What if 'being fitter' just became part of who you were?

What if you not only found a sustainable way to get fit BUT also learned to be a bit more gentle with yourself along the way?

It doesn't take as much effort as you think, I promise you that.

In fact, the most effortful part?

Is starting.

Once you're started stuff become easy really pretty quickly.

And so if you fancy being fitter all the time, rather than just getting fit once or twice a year when you think you 'should' be doing it.

Apparently Summer is over (booo 👎).

But your end of year fitness journey...

- Three Boxercise spaces available

Positive health and wellbeing isn't all about calories and crunches anymore...

Those days are gone (thank god) and probably never coming back.

Most coaches nowadays understand that the body and mind are connected.

A healthy body helps promote a healthy mind, and a healthy mind helps support a healthy body

Makes sense, doesn't it?

Yet even though it makes logical sense...

I see people time and time again who neglect the role their mind plays in their overall wellbeing.

I hear it all the time...

"I'm just not in the right headspace right now"
"My mindset isn't right at the moment"
"Mentally I'm not in the right place right now"

My question is always the same:

What steps are you taking to move the needle in a positive direction?

And the answer is always the same:

"I'm not".

And mostly?

It's because people genuinely don't know where to start.

It's one of the reasons I often recommend starting a journal to clients.

Because if you keep a record of how you think and feel on a daily basis.

Over time, you'll start to see patterns appear...

Certain types of events that cause you to feel better (or worse)...

Interactions that energised you and interactions that drain you...

Recurring thoughts that crop up and keep you stuck...

And once you can see them?

You can start to work with them.

And that headspace you've been looking for?

Well, maybe in time you'll find it, rather than just hoping it will appear out of thing air...

Half way through another week...

For some?

It's just another week gone by where they said they'd "Start Monday" but never did (seems to be a lot of weeks like that, right?)

For others...

It's another week of workouts under the belt.

Whether it's training with the Minster Milers, coming along to the group sessions or starting a new personal training programme, you are just one 'let's do this' away from making long lasting changes to your health and fitness.

Listen.

In 4 days, it's going to be Sunday.

You know, that day where you sit down and promise yourself "I am going to START tomorrow"...

And when Monday rolls around - as it always does - you're going to face the same choice you always face...

Follow through or find an excuse.

So....

Client Results for July 🔥🔥🔥

I've been working with a few people 1-1 since May, and some of the results are good.

I mean, REALLY good.

And this isn't a post to blow smoke up my a**.

Because I only give people the tools.

The rest?

Up to them.

But with persistence, patience and perseverance, you can get great results, like these for example...

12 Weeks ago my client was...

😐 Over 100kg and couldn't run for more than a minute or two.

Fast forward 12 weeks....

He's dropped over 10kg 🤩
He's running for almost 40 minutes without stopping 🔥

And the funny thing?

We've done zero focus on actually losing weight.

We haven't talked that much about food or diet or anything like that.

Instead...

❤️ We've focused on increasing his activity in a fun but challenging way...

❤️ We've brought more awareness to his food, without actually enforcing any changes...

❤️ We're working WITH his body, rather than against it.

❤️ He has a goal he actually cares about, not something he saw on TikTok.

I'm going to have 3 more spaces open for August for day-time PT sessions.

If you're over 40, then the following is probably true...

> You don't have a whole lot of time to yourself
> You don't feel as energetic as you did in your 30s
> Things that used to be easy, don't feel so easy anymore.

And you can look at this two ways.

👎 Number 1: You can decide that this is just 'how it goes' as you get older, light the pipe, buy a new pair of slippers and stick on another episode of the antiques roadshow...

Or

👍Number 2: You can get really honest with yourself and start to make some changes.

See, you probably think you need hours of exercise every week to get stronger and fitter.

The truth?

You probably only need to do 45 minutes, two or three times a week.

(And I KNOW you've pi**ed away at least that long on social media today 😏)

See, if you don't know what you're doing then it's easy to spend time on the wrong stuff.

And that's time wasted. Time that most of us just don't have.

And so what do you do?

You decide exercise takes too long, and start searching for some sort of magic hack. You probably buy a supplement recommended by someone in their 20's you saw on Insta-Tok and become a reseller for some super-thing-greens-nutri-shake rubbish.

Anyway, I digress.

My point is, if you know what you're doing (or work with someone - hint * hint - that does) then you can get everything you need done and dusted in 45 minutes twice a week.

And if you don't believe me?

Come and give it a try.

I dare you.

I DOUBLE dare you (which now means you HAVE to do it)

Probably the most important thing about fitness for over 40s is this 👇

Consistency.

Listen, your body is losing muscle mass every year.

To counteract that, you need to be consistently exercising. I'm talking multiple times a week (at least twice)

And to be consistent, you've gotta stay injury free.

I can't tell you the number of times I've seen someone overdo it in the gym, injure themselves and then be out of action for a month, only to get straight back to it and injure themselves.

It's madness.

It's also really annoying for you, as you never get any momentum going.

It's one of the reasons I set my weekly coaching up to be challenging but manageable.

Because over time, doing 2 or 3 manageable sessions every single week beats doing one mental session and then having to have a couple of weeks off to recover.

Consistency will always win in the long term.

And if you're struggling with it and want some support?
