One of England's top 100 courses. With a par of 69 and standard scratch of 70, this 6262 yard course is a great deal more difficult than it might first appear.

Testament to this is the fact that the course record for a professional is only 64 and was set in 2000 by honorary life member Colin Montgomerie, one of the best golfers in the world.

🍂 Ladies’ Autumn Open 🍂

It was wonderful to welcome another full field for our Ladies’ Autumn Open.

Thankfully, the weather stayed fine, the course was in excellent condition, and we were delighted to receive such positive feedback from players throughout the day.

This was the penultimate Open Day of the season, and it has been fantastic to see just how popular our Open Days have proved, with full fields taking part throughout the year.

Our final event, the Men’s Seniors Autumn Open, is already fully booked. However, tee times are now available for our 2027 Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed Opens; and they’re filling up quickly!

We were delighted to welcome Southport & Ainsdale Juniors for the first time last week in what we hope will become a regular fixture.

Playing a mini–Ryder Cup format of foursomes, fourballs and singles, there was some excellent golf on show despite the heavy morning showers.

Ilkley took a 5.5–2.5 lead into the afternoon and continued their strong form in the singles to secure an impressive 10.5–5.5 victory!

A superb match played in great spirit against a very strong S&A side. And a special mention to super-sub Aidan, who produced a brilliant last-hole win to help seal the result!

Thanks to Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club for a fantastic day. We’re already looking forward to the return fixture next year!

It was a pleasure to receive a call from Patricia Speed, a member of Lindrick Golf Club, following her recent visit to Ilkley.

Patricia was kind enough to share her experience and to thank everyone at the Club for a truly “Grand Day Out.”

Her visit began with a delicious breakfast, followed by a lovely tuna salad after her round, served by Olivia, who was really attentive and friendly. She also remarked on the warm welcome she received in the Pro Shop.

Out on the course, Patricia and her playing partner were struck by the exceptional green condition of the course, while the gentle sound of the river provided a particularly memorable backdrop to their round.

It is always a pleasure to hear that our visitors have enjoyed not only the course, but the wider Ilkley experience; from the welcome they receive to the hospitality throughout their day.

Thank you, Patricia, for taking the time to share your kind words. Your wonderful feedback will be passed on to the whole team.

A huge thank you to our excellent team of greenkeepers, led by Duncan Campbell, for all their hard work, dedication and expertise in producing a truly fantastic golf course.

The course has received huge plaudits from both members and visitors, with many commenting that it is the best it has ever been.

Congratulations to Fiona Wood.

Fiona is the proud winner of the ‘K’ Salver, Ilkley Ladies’ Section’s scratch matchplay knockout competition, following a fantastic and highly competitive final against Camilla Dyson.

Played in exceptionally high winds, the final was a superb contest and enjoyed in great spirit by both players.

The ‘K’ Salver was presented to the Ladies’ Section by the late Hilary Kaye, a distinguished amateur golfer and member of Ilkley Golf Club. Hilary was England captain, a county player for Yorkshire, Surrey and Hertfordshire, and a five-time winner of the Herts Ladies Championship.

It has been an incredible couple of weeks for Fiona, who recently captained the Yorkshire Senior Ladies to victory in the Richardson Trophy, ending a 10-year wait to become Northern County Champions.

A huge congrats to Fiona and well done to Camilla on a fantastic final.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support both players, and to Liz Packett for refereeing the match.

Archie’s PGA journey continues.

As part of his ongoing development, Archie Rowntree is progressing through his PGA training, building valuable knowledge and experience across coaching, golf operations and the wider golf industry.

Alongside this, Archie is leading the development of Operation 36 Academy, delivering structured programmes designed to help ladies and juniors build their skills, grow in confidence and ultimately take that next step onto the golf course.

It’s fantastic to see Archie continuing to develop as a PGA Professional, while bringing that experience and knowledge back into his coaching and helping create even more opportunities for golfers at Ilkley Golf Club.

What a way to start retirement for Ilkley member and past Captain, Paul Wilson.

With plans to play plenty more golf, now he no longer has to fly all over the world on business, Paul certainly got his retirement off to a flying start.

Just a couple of days after finishing work, Paul headed out for his first round as a retiree. And what happened on the 18th was something special.

Playing his second shot from around 220 yards, with the ball close to a tree near the second tee, Paul pulled out his trusty 3-wood and struck it beautifully.

The result? Straight into the hole for an Eagle two!

Well done, Paul. Retirement obviously suits you.

🌧️ It’s amazing what a few days of rain can do! 🌱

The fairways are looking wonderfully green after some much-needed rainfall, as seen in the photograph of the 17th hole taken yesterday.

It’s great to see the course looking so healthy and vibrant.
