Another fantastic seminar!

Yesterday we had hugely successful workshop on freestyle strategy and practice.

Under the guidance of Master Bal Singh, students explored freestyle variations of basic techniques through a range of excellent practical drills.

Following a social tea and coffee break, everyone benefited from an hour of one-to-one tuition with a Blackbelt — a valuable opportunity to develop techniques and understanding.

It was a great day of training, learning and sharing knowledge.

The Self-Defence Workshop was a very enjoyable, constructive and educational experience for all students present.

Mr Dhaliwal gave a short talk on environmental awareness and decision making, explaining “the best defence is not to be in that situation in the first place!”.

Students were then shown the use of key body weapons of the Elbow, Heel of Palm and the simple and effective low Front Kick.

Every student then participated in board breaking to ‘feel’ the potential power of their techniques.

After the tea-break, everyone participated in the core principles of using rotational forces to release grabs and holds placed upon them.

A really fantastic day, and we’ve received some excellent feedback from the students.

Many Congratulations to all!

Last night the Blackbelt group enjoyed a triple celebration!

We are pleased to announce that after taking a break from their training, the following people returned to the Art Form and regained their Blackbelt grade, these special people are: Ustadan Paulette Hyde, Ustad Kevin Hyde and Ustad Robert Wilson.

We are also delighted to announce that Ustad Jonathan Leggett was promoted to 2nd Degree Blackbelt and Ustads Paul Jackson, Martin Murray and Darren Rose were promoted to 3rd Degree Blackbelt.

And finally we celebrated the 23 year Blackbelt anniversary for Ustadan Diane Hartley, Ustad Dave Armstrong and Ustad Tim Russell.

Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to Ustads Arun Dhaliwal, Ian MacGuinness and Jay Stewart who celebrated their 20 year Blackbelt anniversary this month. They were awarded their Blackbelts alongside Ustads David Jackson, Lee Corbett and Mark Smith.

The Sheffield club hosted a celebratory training session and were joined by the Worcester Club. Ustad Arun Dhaliwal conducted an insightful training session, focusing on the fundamental basic techniques and postures as the bedrock of the Art Form, followed by some thought provoking ways to practice freestyle. An excellent session delivered to a packed hall consisting of white to senior brown belts, all of whom were able to engage and participate fully in the session and take away many valuable insights for their training practice.

Afterwards the group met for a meal and a drink - it was a wonderful chance to catch up with distant colleagues. A truly memorable day…

Well done again to our Blackbelt colleagues may you have many more good years ahead!

Congratulations to Ustad David Breakwell who celebrated his 35th Blackbelt Anniversary.

David was awarded his Blackbelt alongside Ustad Rico Grewal and Ustadan Jackie Knight.

This is a landmark achievement which reflects his many years of dedication and support for the Art Form.
