Welcome šŸ™ to my page; My name is Angie Mays, and I’m a Burnout Prevention Coach for women over 40 and the creator of The You First MethodĀ®ļø

I support exhausted women to recognise the patterns that are draining them, stop putting themselves last and protect their energy before burnout forces them to stop.

But I didn’t always understand burnout this way.

For as long as I can remember, I believed that hard work was the key to success.

At just 13, I got my first job and stayed with the same employer for 16 years. I learned very early that being responsible meant working hard, saying yes and putting work before myself.

Long hours became normal.

Pushing through became normal.

Putting myself last became normal.

And I carried that belief with me throughout my life.

I became the woman who took on extra responsibilities, rarely said no and kept going even when I was exhausted.

I thought being strong meant coping.

I thought being successful meant doing more.

And I thought I just needed to try harder.

Until my body finally said enough.

I fell down the stairs from exhaustion, badly injuring my coccyx and needing six weeks off work.

You’d think that would have been the wake-up call.

But instead, I felt guilty.

I couldn’t wait to get back. I worried about letting people down. I pushed myself back into work before I was truly ready.

And I carried on.

By my 40s, the cost of constantly putting myself last was becoming impossible to ignore.

I was exhausted. My body hurt. My mind wouldn’t switch off. I struggled to sleep and found myself spending my days off simply recovering from the week.

I was functioning.

But I wasn’t really living.

And that’s when I finally realised something.

Burnout wasn’t just about how much I was doing.

It was about how long I had been ignoring myself.

I’d become so good at looking after everything and everyone else that I’d stopped asking myself what I needed.

I’d normalised exhaustion.

I’d ignored the warning signs.

I’d said yes when I wanted to say no.

I’d pushed through when I needed to stop.

I’d put everyone else’s needs ahead of my own.

I’d abandoned myself.

And I realised I didn’t want to wait for another crisis to force me to change.

So I started doing things differently.

I learned to recognise my warning signs before they became a crisis. I learned how to protect my energy, create boundaries, listen to what I actually needed and make myself a priority without feeling guilty.

Most importantly, I learned that putting yourself first isn’t selfish. It’s essential.

That experience became the foundation of The You First Method Ā®ļø

Today, I help women over 40 do what I wish I’d learned much earlier:

Recognise burnout before it takes over.
Stop abandoning themselves.
Protect their energy.
Set boundaries.
And start putting themselves first.

Because I don’t believe you should have to completely break down before you’re allowed to change your life.

You don’t need to wait until your body says enough.

You don’t need another reminder to try harder.

And you don’t need to become better at doing everything.

You need to start choosing yourself.

That’s what The You First Method Ā®ļø is about.

Helping exhausted women go from never enough to energised, empowered and worthy of putting themselves first.

Excited to wake up refreshed, with energy…

Because You First isn’t selfish. It’s burnout prevention.

Tonight was one of those moments that used to completely tip me over.

I walked into a messy kitchen… dishes everywhere… and that instant feeling hit:
ā€œWhy is this all on me?ā€

That used to spiral šŸŒ€ me.

Snappy, overwhelmed, frustrated…
Shouting and crying, then the guilt for reacting like that.

But now I catch it differently.

Because I know it’s not about the dishes.

It’s what they represent.

Carrying too much
Having no space to switch off
Feeling like everything is up to you, feeling resentment…
Feeling under valued

And

That’s what actually drains you.

And for years, I thought I just needed to be better.
More patient. More organised. Less reactive.

But nothing changed… until I started putting myself first.

Setting clear expectations
Stopping over-functioning
Creating actual support around me

That’s when everything shifted.

Not perfect. Not overnight.
But I stopped feeling like I was constantly on edge in my own life.

This is exactly what I help exhausted women do.

Because it’s not that you can’t cope.
It’s that you were never meant to carry it all alone.

If you’re feeling this right now, message me ā€œYOU FIRSTā€ we’ll talk about what this could look like for you.

Life requires us to push through, over work, take care of everyone else and neglecting our own.
It’s no easy wonder we are in constant fight or flight mode.

But our bodies are not supose to be in right or flight this is how we were in the cave days running from lions 🦁

It’s not a healthy place to be in constantly we need to make our bday feel safe and slow down…

We need to let our brains 🧠 relax this is how overhelm and stress happen our bodies are giving us warning signs that we need to listen to

Put your hand 🤚 on your heart ā™„ļø and ask yourself what do I need right now? And connect with your needs

Trauma can cause us to be in fight or flight

What trauma specifically is, is stored emotions in the body that listerllu don’t finish the cycle because we didn’t feel safe to or know how to.

Trauma can happen before birth, in the womb or in childhood

This is because up until the age 7 our brains 🧠 don’t form the critical thinking skills to access situations and deal with them appropriately

So if we are told off as a child we will internalise these feelings and hold on to them…

Then everything else that represents this feeling of not good enough continues to build up in the body

So although mindset is amazing we also need to release those emotions and stored trauma in the body.

When you release it, you feel lighter, brighter and happier.

In subconscious sessions you go to the first time you ever felt sadness, fear, anger or hurt etc and then it eliminates every other of this feeling since then.

It’s like magic šŸŖ„

Hands up if Sunday dread starts creeping in before the weekend’s even over šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

That heavy feeling.
That ā€œhere we go againā€ thought.
That low level exhaustion before Monday has even arrived.

Exhausted women don’t need more motivation.
They need something to shift.

No fixing yourself.
No pressure.
Just small shifts that change how life feels.

I’m so super proud of my clients this week, only their 1st or 2nd session with me, this week, so basically not took a lot of work to help shift their energy and mindset…

Big wins šŸ† and light bulb šŸ’” moments for all 3 of them!!!!

They have gone from exhausted from their daily lives and not putting themselves first to,

Embracing the You First mindset,

✨ choosing to allow themselves to switch off at night and knit 🧶 for fun so they don’t stress themselves out before bed, with work, šŸ›ļø which would raise their cortisol levels and be difficult to sleep…

✨ they have started believing they are worth putting themselves first and have been allowing themselves guilt free time šŸ•°ļø to read šŸ“– which also allows them to escape their mind and not get so overwhelmed.

āœ… It’s so important to have tools to allow you not to stay in your head 24/7.

✨ one client is baking bread šŸž and listening to Celion Dion right now giggling and excited for the future because her perspective has changed so much she now finally believes she can….

✨ they are recognising what environments and people are draining their energy and placing themselves into healthier ones

✨ their energy has completely shifted from low to motivated

And I could go on FOREVER with these three because WOW 😮 it’s just so lovely to hear because everyone deserves to put themselves first and prioritise their own needs!!

You should not be putting yourself last…

You should come first!!!!

Ask yourself this, what do I want today?

Not āŒ what should I be doing but what do I want…

Super proud 🄹 Ange, her clients choosing themselves and trusting me with their journey….. blessed 🄹

Thank you šŸ™ form the bottom of my heart šŸ’“

The You First MovementĀ® is for the woman who finally realises she’s done abandoning herself.
Done swallowing her needs.
Done shrinking to keep the peace.
Done carrying everything and calling it strength.
Done surviving when she knows she was made for more than exhaustion.

This movement is a homecoming.
A reclamation.
A rising.

You First is not selfish.
It’s self return.
It’s remembering who you were before life demanded you forget.

In 2026, women stop living last on their own list.
They stop apologising for their needs.
They stop choosing exhaustion as their identity.

This is the year women go You First.
And I’m leading it.
