Newton Cricket Club

Established 1912 Newton Cricket Club has been playing competitive cricket for 100 years! We run three senior teams which cater for all levels of cricket.

We played at Clarendon Road, Hyde, until 1934, when the club moved to its present home at Barmhouse Lane, Godley, Hyde. During our time here we have been affiliated to several high quality village cricket leagues. Currently we are members of the Peak Sports Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League. The first and second elevens play on Saturdays, where both teams compete in their respective premier

divisions. With the third team competing in a social league on Sundays. Training and net practice are held on Tuesday evenings in the summer from 7pm onwards at the club and in the winter, Friday nights at Hyde Technology School from 8pm. The club has enjoyed England and Wales Cricket Board “Focus Club” status and has had Club Mark accreditation since its inception, as well as taking part in the "Chance to Shine" program recently We have long placed a defining emphasis on junior development and we are proud that our senior teams are mostly made up of graduates from our junior teams . We employ 4 qualified coaches and field teams at Under 11, 13 and 16. Coaching takes place on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 7.30pm (up to 11 years) and from 7.30 to 8.30 pm (12 to 16 years) in the summer at the club and 7 - 8pm (up to 13 years) or 8 - 9pm (13 to 16 years) at Hyde Technology School during the winter. Pop down to the cricket club this morning and support a fantastic cause as Wendy's Macmillan Coffee Morning gets underway.

Enjoy a coffee, a slice of cake, and a catch-up with friends. And if cake isn't your thing first thing in the morning, we've also got bacon and sausage butties available too! 🥓☕

All proceeds go towards supporting the amazing work of Macmillan Cancer Support. 💚

We'd love to see as many people as possible, so come along, show your support, and help us raise money for a great cause.

Team Selection | Final Saturday of the Season 🏏

The final Saturday of the season is here!

Our 1st XI make the trip to Old Glossop, whilst our 2nd XI welcome Hayfield to Mount Pleasant as both sides look to finish on a high.

You may notice that our 2nd XI are being led by both Mercers this weekend, and with good reason. Saturday will be Jack's final game for NCC before he heads off to start a new chapter of life 'Down Under'

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Jack for everything he has done for the club over the years. From his work with the bar and house management duties, to helping coach our women's team when they first started out, Jack has made a huge contribution both on and off the field.

Everyone at NCC would like to wish you all the very best for the future. We're sure life in Australia will be an incredible adventure, and while you'll be greatly missed around the club, you'll always be part of the NCC family 💚💛

We're also preparing to say farewell to our overseas player Gerry, who returns home to South Africa soon. It has been fantastic to have you back at NCC again this season. We hope you enjoy the remainder of your time in the UK and wish you a safe flight home. Let's make Saturday a day and night to remember!

☕Macmillan Coffee Morning This Saturday at the Cricket Club 🍰

This Saturday, Wendy is once again hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning at the cricket club to help raise vital funds for a charity that is close to all of our hearts.

📅 Saturday 12th September
⏰ From 10:00am

Come along for a coffee, a catch-up, and some delicious cakes, all while supporting a fantastic cause.

Not a cake-for-breakfast person? We've got you covered! We'll also be serving bacon and sausage butties, so there's something for everyone to enjoy.

🎂 If you're able to donate any cakes, they would be hugely appreciated and will help make the morning even more special.

💷 Please remember to bring cash so you can treat yourself while helping to raise money for Macmillan.

🏏 Team News for the Weekend 🏏

It's the penultimate weekend of the season and it's a busy one for NCC!

On Saturday, our 1st XI welcome Whaley Bridge to Mount Pleasant, while our 2nd XI travel to Old Glossop CC.

The bar will be open from 1pm and the weather looks set to stay dry 🤞🏻, so if you're free, we'd love to see you down at the club supporting the team.

On Sunday, our T20 squad head to Birch Vale CC for the T20 Plate Finals Day. Their semi-final against New Mills starts at 1.15pm, and it would be great to have plenty of support there as they look to book their place in the final.

What a brilliant President's Day! 💚💛

Thanks to everyone who joined us on Sunday and helped make it such a great day.

The weather certainly tried its best, but the rain couldn't dampen the mood.
The only disappointment may have been for Team A, who saw their final against Team C abandoned because of lightning, resulting in a draw! 🤣⚡️

From cricket and karaoke to drinks, laughs, and catching up with friends, it was a day packed with fun and a great reminder of what makes our NCC family so special.

🏏 President's Day 2026 is almost here! 🏏
Sunday 30th August

We're looking forward to a fantastic day of cricket, fun and club spirit as we come together for the return of our annual President's Day.

✅ The teams are set... although only Phil knows what they are, and they're being kept top secret until President's Day! 🤫🏏

A couple of reminders before the day:

🍰 Sweet Treat Donations Needed
If you're able to bring along a cake, biscuits, sweets, crisps or any other sweet treats for the teas, it would be greatly appreciated.

🎟️ Raffle Prize Donations Welcome
We're also looking for prizes for our raffle. If you or your business can donate something, please bring it along on the day.

🍴 Teas will be £3 per person and served after the second match.

💷 Please remember to bring cash for the raffle draw. Every ticket sold helps support the clubs chosen charity.
