I managed to have a go of the static hula hoop thing that's been all the craze at the moment. I've been wanting to have a play as people have asked me about it and having not had a go, I didn't feel like I could bring any valid insights into the conversation.
They're not really a thing within the hula hoop community because, well it's not really a hula hoop. Personally it's not for me because I'm a hooper and immediately I started wanting to move it up to my shoulders and down to my legs and play, which you can't do with it stuck to your waist. I know after a while I'd be bored.
But in all honesty, pre-hooper me probably would have got it because I do like the idea of taking links off as you lose the fat. It's a good visual that is helpful to many.
Then again, hooper me also says because it's static it's only working one set of muscles continuously, whereas a hula hoop will target a lot more muscles as it moves up and down your body naturally, therefore giving you a better workout and more bang for your buck.
But at the end of the day I'm a massive advocate in people moving, no matter what that looks like. As long as you're moving and having fun doing it, then that's all that matters! What one person enjoys doing, another may not, and that's okay. The important thing is consistency, and to get that the activity needs to be FUN for you! ❤️
