A fun, friendly and relaxed environment, where we explore, dance and move together through theme based play. Hi, my name is Hannah and I have been teaching early years dance for 18 years in and around Berkshire. I have

taught in a variety of settings, from private to main stream schools, stage schools to community groups. Dance with me was created to provide children and their carers with the opportunity to dance together. It is a fully interactive class and encourages exploration of movement whilst creating a unique bonding experience. Dance is my passion and since having two of my own mini movers, I can see how beneficial and beautiful dancing together can be. Adults and children alike are asked to remove all footwear (although adults may wear slipper socks or soft dance shoes if they wish) and wear comfortable clothing for dancing. The class is not choreographed and even if you have never danced a step in your life, I encourage you to give it a try. A FREE taster session is available for everyone so that you can come and sample what we do! The class runs for 45 minutes with a 15 minute snack and story time at the end. Please bring along your own snacks and may I ask that you refrain from bringing any products containing nuts. Regular classes take place on a Wednesday morning from 9.30-10.30 at Hurst Village hall. Fees
6 week block of classes - £39.00 for children walking - 4 years

If you are bringing more than one child the following discounts apply -
Under 18 months free
Over 18 months 1/2 price

Younger siblings are very welcome feel free to bring baby in a sling and let them enjoy the fun too! Please do not hesitate to contact me either via this page or by email if you have any queries or questions. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Dance With Me Berkshire is 10 years old this September! It really doesn’t seem that long, but when I look at where I started, with a 5 and 2 year old it really hits home!

I started the class because I am passionate about movement, whatever that looks like, dance, play, singing, instruments. I wanted to bring it all together for people to enjoy with their little ones.

I did a taster session which was oversubscribed and I was so nervous. People came, friends came, friends of friends came and we built a community. It was and still is everything I wanted it to be, fun, friendly, a place to come when you really don’t want to leave the house with a toddler, but know you need to, for your sanity!

The thing with children is…they grow up! So I have had to say goodbye to so many wonderful families over the years. Watching the adults become friends and build friendships away from the class has been my favourite thing to see, with so many of them still in touch and ‘doing life with kids’ together.

Dance With Me brings me so much joy and I can’t wait to see what happens next with it. I love taking it into nurseries and pre schools and spreading the joy of movement. The community class remains in its original home in Hurst and I feel so much pride as it turns 10 (Monday 14th!) 🎉 🎂 🎈

Thank you to anyone who has ever come to one of my classes, my friends and family who have supported me and the amazing women who have helped me through tough times in business and out the other side. You are all wonderful ✨

I CAN’T BELIEVE…

My son has done his first year at secondary school and is about to start year 8! This time last year we were both so nervous about what the year ahead would bring. I could not be prouder of how he has managed this past school year, he has thrown himself into life at secondary and taken up opportunities given to him, made lots of new friends, found his favourite teachers who support him in all aspects of school (not just their lessons) and found a confidence that he’s continuing to grow by himself. Some of the key things we have worked on to get here are:

Talking about and understanding emotions. Identifying them in ourselves and others.
Coping with and expressing them in appropriate ways.

Showing our children that we find things hard too! Adults don’t have it all worked out! Talking (appropriately) about our stressful days and how we overcame them, if we did. Knowing that tomorrow is a new day.

Nothing is permanent, everything changes and it can all be worked out, together.

Making time and space for hard conversations, this isn’t always easy when life is so busy but we try to make sure that the time is available. Having the puppy has helped. Side by side walking is an amazing way of talking to teens/tweens, as well as in the car.

All a work in progress and obviously there are ups and downs but taking this year as a massive win 🏆

Here he is helping me on his ‘take your child to work day’ where he joined me doing yoga at one of my nurseries!

Dance is an expressive art that traditionally doesn’t involve verbal communication. The body does the talking. Gestures, facial expressions and eye contact all complement the bodies ability to convey a message.

At Dance With Me we often have younger siblings who are not yet walking and talking. Seeing them enjoy the movement and sounds around them is heartwarming. Small movements begin, responding to the music and making eye contact with other children and adults is the start of their dancing journey!

I CAN’T BELIEVE…

I did the 5K Pretty Muddy Event! Back in May I ran with my daughter and sister in law in memory of Kim, my husband and Kathryn’s mum, who we lost 20 years ago. Together with a group of my daughters friends we raised £1700 for Cancer Research 💖 I’m not a big fan of running, but I really surprised myself by getting through it (and a lot of mud) with a little bit of dancing and cartwheeling along the way 😂

Starting a new nursery, pre school or big school can be daunting. When children have attended an activity class they learn skills that can help them in those early days.

💜 Arriving and settling down to start
💙 Listening to adults
💜 Interacting with other children
💙 Learning and remembering the structure of the day/class
💜 Resilience

Learning a new skill can take up to 400 repetitions to create a new synapse (neural path) but when it’s done through play it can take just 12 repetitions. This is because the chemical dopamine is released.

Let that be a lesson to us all! More play, more joy, more laughter!
