Huntingdon United FC

Huntingdon United FC Huntingdon United Football Club is a football club based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England. They are currently members of the Cambridgeshire League.

Our History:
The original Huntingdon United were established in 1948 as a merger of Huntingdon Town and Huntingdon Wanderers. Town had been formed in the 1800s and won the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup eleven times before World War I. For most of the period between 1922 and the merger, they had played in the Peterborough & District League.[1] The newly merged club joined the Central Amateur League i

n 1949,[2] but the league folded at the end of the season. The club then joined Division Two of the United Counties League instead. In 1960 they dropped into Division One of the Peterborough & District League in 1960. They won the division in 1962–63 and were promoted to the Premier Division, where they won the title in 1974–75 and 1975–76. In 1988 Huntingdon joined the newly formed Division One of the Eastern Counties League and finished ninth in their first season. After finishing fourteenth in 1989–90 and sixteenth in 1990–91, the club finished second from bottom in 1991–92. With no secretary and only two club officials left, the club resigned from the league at the end of the season.[1] The first team replaced their reserves in the Huntingdonshire League. They joined the newly established West Anglian League in 1994, and were runners-up in its first season. The following year they won the league and cup double, and were promoted to Division One of the United Counties League.[1] They finished fifth in their first season, by now playing at the Sapley Road playing fields after leaving their Tower Field ground. However, after a planned move to a new ground in Kings Ripton Road fell through (the ground eventually became home to Huntingdon Town), the manager and most of the players left.[1] The following season they finished bottom of Division One, conceding 273 goals in 34 matches.[3]

Huntingdon dropped into the East Midlands Alliance, before switching to Senior Division A of the Cambridgeshire League. In 2004 they dropped down again, taking the place of their reserves in Division 2B. In 2005 they merged with RGE Huntingdon to form Huntingdon United RGE. The new club was promoted to Division 1B in 2005–06. They won the division the following season and were promoted to the Senior Division B. Although the first team withdrew from the league during the 2007–08 season, the reserves continued, effectively becoming the first team. They were promoted to Division 2B as champions of Division 3B in 2008–09, and were promoted again to Division 1B the following season after finishing second.[1] The club dropped the RGE from their name during the 2013–14 season. In 2016–17 Huntingdon won the Creake Charity Shield, beating Chatteris Town reserves 5–0 in the final,[4] and were champions of Division 1B, remaining unbeaten during the league season,[5] earning promotion to Senior Division B. The following season saw them win the Percy Oldham Memorial Cup and the Senior Division B title, securing a second successive promotion.

Great evening at Fridays presentation celebrating all our achievements this season.

For the 1st team our captain Harrison Scaife took a well deserved supporters and players player of the year while Joel Jolly who was part of an incredible defence conceding just 17 goals in 26 games was our managers player of the year. We also brought a new award in this year with our Daren Scaife award, in future years this will go to anyone around the club in any role who has contributed heavily during the season. But for this year there could only be two winners and we were proud to present the first ever Daren Scaife award to his boys Logan and Harrison.

For the reserves the departing Lee Milton gave a great speech on his time at the club and for his award winners, all huge parts of his dressing room with Aaron Petty taking supporters player, Haydon Hufford winning managers player of the year and young Max Milton taking a very well deserved players player.

Thank you to everybody who attended and for all your support during the season 💚❤️

A win to end the season this Saturday as we finished a great season with a 1-0 win against Stretham after a second half goal from Tommy Dear. 20 wins from our 26 league games and an amazing defensive record of just 17 goals conceded in the league all season.

We look forward to the jump up to Senior A next year and pushing our young teams on some more.

Pre season will be underway in July and any friendly details will be communicated on here. Our presentation evening is on Friday May 15th at Jubilee Park, would be great to see as many people there as possible. Thank you for all your support to both teams all season 💚❤️

Our final fixture of the 25/26 campaign tomorrow as we host Stretham at Jubilee Park at 3pm.

Been a great season for the club with two young sides having great campaigns. With all the club has had to deal with after Daren’s sudden passing in September for this inexperienced group to come together and reach a cup final and gain promotion after finishing 2nd has shown tremendous character.
One last fixture for you all to enjoy before a well earned summer break for everyone.

Thank you to everyone for their support of both teams throughout the season. The club is in a really good place at the moment thanks to you all.

💚❤️

We made it 4 straight wins as our fine end to the season continued with a controlled performance at home to Sawston last night. An early header from Jamie Blackwell and a second half strike for the returning Archie Riordan gave us the points after dominating throughout. Another clean sheet for our defence who have only conceded 17 goals in our 25 league games this season 👏🏼

We move onto Saturday where we finish our campaign with a home game against Stretham in a 3pm kick off. Thanks for all your support 💚❤️

Two home games for the first team to finish a great season this week with 2nd place and our promotion to Senior A confirmed we host Sawston tomorrow evening (28/4) and Stretham on Saturday (2/5) to round off our campaign. Tuesdays game will kick off at 6.15 and Saturday is at 3pm.

All support as always hugely appreciated 💚❤️

The first team made it 3 away wins in a week with a hard fought 1-0 win away to Over in our final away game of the season. With a host of players missing and in a game of few chances we kept plugging away and were rewarded 10 minutes from time when 17 year old Max Milton-Gentile came off the bench to finish off a well worked move at the front post. One of the most popular goals of the season and great to see one of our young reserves pushing through into the first team and making a real impact.

No game for either side this weekend but we will look to continue our good run and finish the season well next week as we face Sawston 28/4 and Stretham 2/5 in our final two fixtures of the season 💚❤️

With promotion secured on Tuesday there was no drop in levels from the first team as they ran out 3-1 winners after a professional performance in what is always a difficult game away to Stretham. After conceding an early goal the lads regrouped and a superb hatrick from Tommy Dear gave us the points.

The day was capped off as we were able to give a cameo at the end to our departing reserve manager Lee Milton who got to enjoy the final 10 minutes playing alongside his son Max who has joined the first team squad in recent weeks. Lee had planned to play in the reserves final fixture before stepping down but this was denied after the opponents forfeited the game.

A top day all round with an average age (minus Lee 🙃) of around 21. We roll on to Tuesday evening in our final away game in Over before we finish with two home games on 28/4 and 2/5.

💚❤️

The reserves season has sadly ended after their opponents failed to raise a team for this weekends game. The worst position they can finish is joint 2nd but results over the next two weekends will confirm where they end up. Disappointing to miss out on 3 games this season for them (two against bottom of the league) which may prove pivotal if goal difference decides things. We await guidance from the FA on how many get promoted to see if they have done enough if they have to settle for 3rd. A great season for this young squad regardless led by Lee and Jason once again.

First team are back on the road after a fabulous night on Tuesday where they sealed promotion with 4 games to go with one of their best performances of the season. We go again tomorrow away to Stretham. Lots still to play for and good habits to maintain as we look to finish the season strong. This is a 3pm kick off and as always any support is hugely appreciated 💚❤️
