SURVIVOR SWIMRUN - RACE BOOK AND RACE UPDATE

Yes, Grafham Water is low on water - but we’ll work with what we’ve got and the race is going ahead as usual!

The Race Book is now available with all the important race-day information, so please have a good read through before September.

We’ve also had lots of questions about what to wear. The simple answer at the moment is, wait and see what the weather does!

By the end of September it could still be mild… or it could be decidedly chilly. Your kit choice really will depend on the conditions nearer race day, so don’t make that decision just yet.

We will have our warming tent as usual.
In the earlier rounds there can be a little waiting around between laps, so there will be somewhere to get out of the wind, warm up and stay comfortable while you wait for that next countdown.

For now:

Read the Race Book.
Keep training.
Keep an eye on the weather.
Make your final clothing decisions nearer the time.

Low water or not, Survivor is on.

HOUSEKEEPING
21K COURSE UPDATE

We've made a small change to the 21K course.

Swim 7 (300m) has been removed.

Why? The entry and exit is boggy under the water, with deep, shoe-sucking mud. While we know you're a hardy bunch, we'd rather not have anyone stuck, knee deep, waiting for rescue at teatime!

In all seriousness, this is a safety decision. We don't want you risking injury, or losing footwear in an area that's deteriorated since we last checked it.

The good news? The very next swim, across to the dam wall, more than makes up for the missing 300m. It's a proper swim and, depending on the conditions, can be one of the tougher sections of the course.

Who knows... by the finish line you might even be thanking us for saving your legs (and your shoes!) for when they were needed most.
