Why I Teach Fitness Pilates Rather Than Traditional Pilates 💗
I’m often asked why I teach Fitness Pilates rather than traditional Pilates, and the answer is simple – I love the way it combines all the benefits of Pilates with a more modern, dynamic and accessible approach.
Fitness Pilates was created by Rachel Holmes in 2002 and takes the core principles of Pilates while incorporating mobility work, functional movement, standing exercises, stretching and relaxation. Classes are taught to music, creating an uplifting and motivating atmosphere that people genuinely enjoy.
Traditional Pilates is fantastic and focuses on the original mat-based exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, with a strong emphasis on technique, control, posture, flexibility and core strength.
The reason I choose Fitness Pilates is that it allows me to offer a workout that not only improves core strength, posture and flexibility, but also helps with balance, mobility, everyday movement and overall fitness. It feels contemporary, varied and engaging, which helps people stay consistent and enjoy their exercise.
For me, exercise should be effective, enjoyable and leave you feeling stronger, more mobile and energised when you leave the class than when you arrived.
✨ Stronger core
✨ Better posture
✨ Improved flexibility
✨ Increased mobility
✨ Reduced stress
✨ Fun, friendly classes
Fitness Pilates gives me the perfect blend of all of these, and that’s why it’s the style I love to teach.
