Tomorrow brings the game…. Bring the noise for the first EVER outing of the Alconbury Weald Vets team. We may all be over 35. But football is in our blood, someone bring a defib!

Veterans supporters… are you ready… this Sunday is the first game for our newly created Vets team. Our league starts, our fun begins, and our bonding continues!

First game of the season, first season in the Cambs Leagues and the results came in today without a loss to be seen.

1sts started their campaign at Manea, with a great result being 4-0. Clean sheet and MOTM to Samba for a brace of goals and effort today, and the donkey going to Louis Stow (you really need to ask him why).
Reserves started the season at home against Mepal and Sutton. Drawing 2-2 with their MOTM going to Louie Stonnell-Fitzgerald and the donkey was hard choice today (it was a shared own goal).

Great support today too, we love the families and friends coming out and even our recovering keeper Jack paid a visit (keep healing young man).

Here they come.

1 week to go, and we are starting our season. New home, new league and the same bunch of lads with some new additions.

1sts game is away, travelling to Manea. The unknown in Cambs League Division 2.
Reserves are home to begin their season against Mepal and Sutton in Cambs League Division 3.

Bring the noise for the lads, and we will see you all pitch side

Well, that’s the last pre season game, we are done!

We headed to Great Paxton and faced a team that was in one of our sister divisions, we had a bit an unknown and thought we could see what we had and give the gaffer a headache.
And that is what we did!
Goals galore, played for each other all over the pitch and created so many chances. Bagged a handful, enjoyed the physicality and played as a team. The freedom we had was lovely, we created space and influential in the middle of the park. Even with some goal stealing eh Louie Fitzgerald

Bring on the season now, we think we are ready.

As our opposition cancelled on us, we have tried to get another to replace for one more game before the season starting. Great Paxton United have kindly asked for us to attend their home ground for a game.

So we have the one game this weekend. Bring the support to our final away preseason game.

What a long day for the AWFC grassroots teams and their supporters.

Starting at 2pm with the 1sts battling our old friends Dudu Footy FC in an end to end physical game. Great bunch of lads with the 1sts coming out on top. Good luck Dudu with your season.

Next it was the reserves at 5pm taking on Hemingford United Devs in another end to end physical game. The reserves coming out on top. So all in all a good Saturday for The Weald. Vets are next!

Who loves a midweek game, well it would seem AWFC reserves don’t like it much, but the gaffer got to see more of the team despite the score.

Some of the issues were noted and those that arose against a very strong team going forward will be tackled in training. Well done to Brampton FC, good luck for your season to come.

Here it comes, the Vets first pre season friendly. We are at home Jubilee Park Huntingdon with a kick off at 10:30 facing Eaton Socon Vets. Tough match to start to see what we may be capable of.

Gentle reminder for tonight’s game at Hinchingbrooke School with the Reserves vs Brampton FC kicking off at 8pm.

And then onto the weekend games at Jubilee Park Huntingdon, with the 1sts playing at 2 on pitch 3 against the great friends at Dudu Footy FC. Will be great to play them again.
The Reserves are then playing Hemingford United FC Devs at 5 again on pitch 3.

So 3 games this week for you wonderful supporters, who have been there every game so far in the pre season.
