Ladies Day
On a hot sunny day Mary Philips was the victor in the Ladies Day competition last Sunday. Mary came through the 15 up qualifying league stage to reach her semi final against Joan Cook in which she won 15-9. Throughout the qualifying games Julie Polzin had looked favourite to go on and win the competition as she had been the ‘stand out’ player. However, after defeating Bev Delmonte 15-7 she was unable to overcome Mary in the final and lost 21-14.
Congratulations to Mary on her win.
Thanks to the men who came to mark a card, measure and send the jacks back to the ladies whenever they bowled them off. Also a big thanks to Richard and John for providing the spread after the qualifying stage.
Geoff Nutton
The next competition is the Geoff Nutton which takes place on Sunday August 30th. This is the only competition where players play off 0.
Proposed Lowther Cup
On Sunday September 27th the Lowther Cup will be played.
Discussions have taken place as to where the proceeds of the event should go. Last year's competition charity was Headstart 4 babies, but the money raised for them has not yet been handed over due to the charity not responding to attempts from the club to hand over the cheque.
There are ongoing plans to erect a shelter around the green and depending on the cost, proceeds could possibly go towards that?
I am hoping we can get 32 players, which includes invited guests of all abilities, to compete in a 7 end 4 person team pairs competition as we had two years ago. All will be explained. I believe everyone who played that day thought it was a great success.
Further details will be announced soon after the Geoff Nutton competition.
Thanks
