We’re excited to announce our next OPEN WORKSHOP at HDA — and this time we’re heading to Baltimore! 💃✨

Join Olivia Fryer for a high-energy Hairspray Workshop.

Olivia previously performed in Royal Caribbean’s production of Hairspray, appearing in the Ensemble as well as being First Cover Penny Pingleton & Amber Von Tussle — so this is a brilliant opportunity to learn from someone who has performed the show professionally! 🎭

Just one more week until our next dance festival!

Everyone has been working really hard in lessons and private rehearsals, so this week is all about those final practices and finishing touches.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back on stage, supporting their teammates and enjoying the weekend together. Whatever the results, we’re already proud of the work they’ve put in.

💙 MEET OUR FIRST THREE WELCOME BUDDIES 💙

A big welcome to the first three of our five Welcome Buddies for September!

Our buddies are pupils from our Primary class who will be there to welcome new starters, show them where everything is and help them feel comfortable during their first few lessons.

They may be young themselves, but they already show such kindness, confidence and care towards others in class — exactly what being part of HDA is all about.

We are very proud of them and know they will do a brilliant job helping our newest dancers feel part of the HDA family from the very beginning. ⭐️

✨ Teeny Dots are well and truly back after the summer break! ✨

Our littlest dancers have returned to the studio, and it has been so lovely to see them exploring movement, music and dance alongside their grown-ups. 💙

Designed for children aged 18 months to 2½ years, Teeny Dots is a relaxed, parent-participation class where little ones can build confidence, coordination and social skills while having plenty of fun.

A lovely first introduction to dance in a safe, friendly and nurturing environment. ⭐️

Thinking about dance classes but not sure where to start? These are the three questions we get asked most often:

💙 “Can my child come and try it first?”Absolutely! We offer a FREE trial so your child can experience the class, meet the teachers and see if it’s the right fit before committing.

💙 “My child is shy... will they be okay?”Of course. We welcome children of all personalities. Some skip in confidently, others take a little longer to settle. Our nurturing teachers are experienced in helping every child feel comfortable and included at their own pace.

💙 “Do they need dance experience?”Not at all! Every dancer starts somewhere. Many of our students joined us with no previous dance experience and have gone on to flourish in class, performances, exams and competitions.

💙 MEET OUR NEW HDA WELCOME BUDDIES 💙

It has been lovely welcoming so many new starters into HDA this week! We understand that joining a new class can sometimes feel a little daunting, which is why we are introducing our brand-new Welcome Buddies.

We have chosen five young students from our Primary class to take on this special role for the term. Although they are still young themselves, they already show so much kindness, confidence and care towards others in their classes — making them wonderful little role models.

Our Welcome Buddies will be there to:

⭐ Greet new starters when they arrive
⭐ Show them where everything is
⭐ Introduce them to the other children
⭐ Be a friendly face if someone is feeling nervous
⭐ Help make sure nobody feels left out or unsure

They will be wearing their special Welcome Buddy badges, so look out for our fabulous five this weekend! 💙

Starting somewhere new is a big step, and we want every child to feel safe, supported and part of HDA from their very first visit. We are incredibly proud of our five young buddies and know they will do a brilliant job of sharing the kindness and friendship we value so much at HDA.

🍦 A sweet treat for our very deserving winners! 🍦

For our last in-house competition, we challenged our dancers to get creative and make the letters HDA out of anything they could find — and we absolutely loved seeing all their brilliant ideas!

Each of our winners received a £5 Dixon’s Milk Ices voucher to enjoy. The children loved their prizes, and it was lovely to support another fantastic local business at the same time.

A huge well done to all our winners — your creativity and effort were very well deserved! 💙⭐️

✨ EXCITING ACRO NEWS AT HDA! ✨

We are delighted to announce that Charlotte Johnson will be joining the HDA teaching team as our new Acro teacher from 31st October!

Charlotte is a professional dancer and acrobat who has recently completed contracts onboard Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line.

Growing up, Charlotte trained intensively with Jessica Jones—not only as a student, but also as an assistant and assistant coach. She is now bringing this wealth of knowledge and professional experience to her own independent coaching.

Charlotte specialises in:

💪🏻 Acrobatics and tumbling
💪🏻 Acro-specific body conditioning
💪🏻 Strength and flexibility
💪🏻 Safe, technical progression

She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love of technical acrobatics with the next generation, teaching in a positive, encouraging and motivating way.

We are incredibly excited about everything Charlotte will bring to HDA and cannot wait for our pupils to begin working with her!

Classes will be open to all pupils with their teacher’s permission.

At Huddersfield Dance Academy, everything we do has a purpose.

We teach with encouragement because children learn best when they feel safe, supported and valued.

We combine high-quality training with enjoyment because we want our pupils to work hard, develop strong foundations and, most importantly, build a genuine love of dance.

We celebrate progress at every level because success looks different for every child. For one dancer, it may be mastering a new step or performing onstage; for another, it may simply be finding the confidence to walk into the studio without a parent.

We encourage friendships, teamwork and kindness because the lessons learned through dance go far beyond steps and routines.

We create opportunities while respecting that every child’s journey is different. Some may dream of a future in dance, while others come simply because it is the place where they feel happiest and can truly be themselves.

We do what we do because we care deeply about every child and family who chooses HDA—and we never take that choice for granted.

Our aim has always been to provide excellent training within a safe, positive and nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to grow in confidence, make memories and shine in their own way.
