Successful weekend for the club, with the three games all ending with positive results. The 1sts went to Armitage Bridge, and lost the toss. But between Mulhall (29) sharing a good partnership with Whipp, and then Archie's mature innings, we got ourselves to 97/1. We didn't capitalise from that position, but still felt at halfway that we had a competitive total.
A very tight opening spell from Cobber and Balmforth made the total look more formidable - a boundary wasn't scored in the first fifteen overs. The pressure told, and eventually the wickets came soon after the drinks break.
The 2nds were led by Joe Falconio's impressive spell, and Slawit weren't able to recover. Owen Goddard cleaned up at the back end, before Snapper and Ollie almost chased the total themselves.
The 3rds put together a strong batting performance at Blackley based around Enzo Piscitelli's 51; plus a damaging partnership between Ben Gash and Jack Rothery (36). Late cameos from Goddard (23*) and Barker (12* with three boundaries) took us to a target well above six an over.
Goddard then did some damage at the beginning, and at 51/5 the chase was effectively over. Four bowlers took a single wicket each, and we couldn't get maximum points, but a great weekend rounded out with a Sunday win.
