I first met Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh in December 2015 as a Patron for the OBT when I was invited to speak at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Outward Bound Trust! I was placed to do my speech straight after Prince Philip. I was so nervous that I had tears afterwards. I remember The Duke of Edinburgh politely came to me, he was so kind and started to chat with me and asked how I was getting on, as if he was just an ordinary man. He cherished my achievements and even made a joke by saying ‘be careful with this big people, they will take every piece of you, so make sure you leave some for yourself’ and we laughed!
Prince Philip dedicated himself to the people of the UK, and to his family.
The impact of his decades of devoted public service will forever remain.
On behalf of all young people from the OBT, we send our deepest condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the entire Royal Family, on the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
His legacy will live on not only through his family, but in all the charitable endeavors he shaped
