🏹 Congratulations to Nick Thompson, Morgan Rigby and Euan O’Connor, who represented Valley Bowmen of Huddersfield at the World Record Status York Metrics Weekend!

It was a fantastic weekend of shooting and some very long days out on the field!
Saturday saw Morgan and Euan competing. Euan shot the WA1440, producing an incredible performance to win his U21 Open Barebow category and, pending verification and ratification by Archery GB, achieving three National Records! 🏆🏆🏆

Morgan also had a fantastic weekend of shooting, producing some excellent arrows and coming away as the winner of the U18 Open Recurve category in the Metric I. A brilliant achievement! 👏🏹

Sunday saw all three Valley Bowmen archers back on the field for another demanding day of competition. Euan and Nick both competed in the Double WA50 Barebow round, while Morgan took on the Double WA60 in his U18 Recurve category.

Both Morgan and Euan have now submitted their scores and are waiting to hear whether they will be selected to represent Yorkshire at the upcoming Junior Intercounties Tournament. To potentially have two Valley Bowmen archers selected to represent Yorkshire would be an absolutely fantastic achievement for the club and something we would all be incredibly proud to see! 🤞🏹

Congratulations to all three on their efforts, achievements and commitment over what were some very long days on the shooting field. 👏

Hopefully, seeing our archers getting out there and competing will encourage even more Valley Bowmen of Huddersfield members to give external competitions a try. They are a brilliant opportunity to challenge yourself, gain experience, meet other archers and enjoy the sport beyond your home club.

🏹 On Sunday 17th May, Valley Bowmen of Huddersfield proudly took part in Archery GB’s START ARCHERY WEEK! 🏹

Across 4 sessions, we welcomed an amazing 79 people to the club - all ready to channel their inner Robin Hood (or at least try not to shoot the grass 😄).

Thankfully the weather behaved itself for most of the day, and the field was filled with cheers, popped balloons, and plenty of smiles as golds were hit left, right, and centre! 🎯

It was fantastic to see so many people giving archery a go, having fun, and discovering that archery is much harder, and much more addictive than it looks!

We hope everyone who attended had a brilliant time, and we’d love to welcome you back again soon. Many visitors took away information about our beginner courses and had caught the archery bug 😁

Hi, just a quick update. Beginners courses / have a go's / corporate events have all commenced again, albeit with less numbers and still employing the covid cleanliness rules (hand sanitation/sanitised equipment).

The main news is we are in the process of having our own indoor range built. This will be a massive boost to our capacity for courses as well as being able to shoot throughout the year.

Good evening all and a happy new year,

Following the announcement tonight from the PM we have no choice but to cease using the field and lockdown yet again as from Midnight tonight. There are some bookings for tomorrow and the next few days which will now all be cancelled. The field will be closed until further notice. Please do not go to the field tomorrow as it will be locked in practical terms from first thing in the morning.

We are sorry we have to do this but we have to comply with government guidelines.

As soon as we are able we will open up the field.

Unfortunately due to the Governments advice on Archery should cease at all levels (grass roots to the highest competition) we have taken the decision to close the field as of today for all shooting (practice / organised sessions / drops in's / beginners courses / The Big Weekend / Coaching sessions. The ban on shooting will stay in place until the advice from Central Government / Archery GB changes.
