Hi, just a quick update. Beginners courses / have a go's / corporate events have all commenced again, albeit with less numbers and still employing the covid cleanliness rules (hand sanitation/sanitised equipment).

The main news is we are in the process of having our own indoor range built. This will be a massive boost to our capacity for courses as well as being able to shoot throughout the year.

Good evening all and a happy new year,

Following the announcement tonight from the PM we have no choice but to cease using the field and lockdown yet again as from Midnight tonight. There are some bookings for tomorrow and the next few days which will now all be cancelled. The field will be closed until further notice. Please do not go to the field tomorrow as it will be locked in practical terms from first thing in the morning.

We are sorry we have to do this but we have to comply with government guidelines.

As soon as we are able we will open up the field.

Unfortunately due to the Governments advice on Archery should cease at all levels (grass roots to the highest competition) we have taken the decision to close the field as of today for all shooting (practice / organised sessions / drops in's / beginners courses / The Big Weekend / Coaching sessions. The ban on shooting will stay in place until the advice from Central Government / Archery GB changes.

We run a number of beginner courses throughout the year. We still have a few places on courses 3/4.

COURSE No. 3 – June 27, July 4, 11, 18, 25, August 1 – Thursdays (6.30pm to 9.00pm)

COURSE No. 4 – August 17, 24, 31 - Saturday's (11:00 to 15:00 double lessons each day)

The Valley Bowmen of Huddersfield was founded in 1963 and is a community amateur sports club (CASC) affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society and ArcheryGB (the sports governing body in the UK).

With over 100 members, a history going back to 1963, and as the only archery club in our community, the Valley Bowmen have long been a feature in the local sporting landscape. Our field on Knowle Lane near Meltham has provided an ideal, if basic, outdoor venue for archery since we acquired it with the support of Kirklees Council in 1991.

We have a Private two acre outdoor archery range which is available for members to shoot at all times. During the winter months we organise indoor shooting available to all club members or groups of friends to experience archery prior to signing up for a beginners course or as a "one off" experience. These courses are designed for groups of friends / colleagues to experience the sport of archery.

We run a number of beginner courses throughout the year. For more details contact us at www.valleybowmen.co.uk and use the "Contact us" form. We also run a number of “have-a-go-sessions” during the summer months, ideal for charitable organisations or groups of friends to experience archery prior to signing up for a beginners course or as a "one off" experience.
