3rd at Wombwell for Sebastian Benson Racing. Couldn’t quite match the pace of the front pair (well done to them) with the lap record being broken in the final, although I did get a new pb in the race.

The IPKC Round 4 this weekend at Fulbeck Kart Club. Two days practice done, race day to come tomorrow. Hoping to extend our championship lead.

The IPKC Round 3 Hooton Park Race Report

IPKC heats are random grids. I was allocated starts in 9th, 13th & 1st. I knew that in the first two heats I had to focus on getting up as many positions in as I could rather than trying to win.

Heat 1: Started 9th and had a good start making it up to P4, but a number of laps spent battling with another driver caused us not to close the gap to the top 3. Finished P4.

Heat 2: Started 13th and had a brilliant start making it up 5 places on the first lap. During the race I managed to overtake another 6 karts to make it up to 4th. A kart ahead of me then failed scrutineering. Finished P3.

Heat 3 was called off due to a medical emergency off track, so the ambulance was occupied which meant we could not race. Totally understandable and I hope the gentleman is ok.

Final: The finals were extended from the usual 10minutes to 12 (50% longer than a heat). I started 3rd but made it up to 2nd between turns 1 and 2. I knew the race was long so took my time to make a nice clean pass and managed to overtake 2nd on the second lap on the main straight which put me into 1st. Gradually extended my lead over the remainder of the race. Finished P1 with a 1.5 seconds gap

It's race week! Round 3 of the The IPKC Championship at Hooton Park.
