We are a voluntary, non-profit making organisation which exists to promote woodturning in a friendly atmosphere. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Hucclecote Rugby Club in Gloucester and at most meetings we have a top class demonstrator. New members and visitors are always welcome.

Our GAW May club night bought along Richard Findley to be our guest demonstrator. Richard produced a beautiful lidded box with finial. One member commented “This project covered all the basics of woodturning, ways to use tools, helping new turners, and reminding the experienced turners in an informative and enjoyable presentation. A really enjoyable evening”.
This was followed up the next day with a members workshop with Richard giving a master-class on the skew chisel including all possible cuts it can be used for with a test piece to practice! Then thread chasing on tulip wood followed by a threaded clamshell box. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.

GAW TRAINING DAY

A very successful training course held at Down Hatherley Village Hall.
Small boxes, Scottish spurtles and dibbers were made to a very high standard.
The session was finished off with group photo and the presentation of a wood voucher for each participant for redemption in the shop on a club night.
Well done everybody, regards Mike.

Tonights December club evening saw a ‘Christmas’ themed demonstration from our own club member Keith Fenton. Keith demonstrated how to make Christmas tree baubles, Wonky Christmas trees and even how to put a star on the top of a tree as well. All this and homemade mince pies what a great start to Christmas.
