I am signing off from today (I know it’s frowned upon to even announce this and it seems whatever social media moves we make it’s critcised) BUT I want to wish you and you a warm and loving few days.

I took this picture . Made me think about our planet, the stars and us as humans. We are so beautiful and yet we can also create so much darkness towards our earth and to each other.

I have noticed (with COVID topics) we can all get a little pent up! It sure has caused a divide for many. Our health and our mental health is more important than so and so’s opinions.
Just keep being you. I for one , have no place to judge.

Yesterday I went for a run. I was feeling a little stressed at hearing too much news. It does help me a lot. BUT I then made sure I had some time with my loved ones in the evening and finished the night with my book. Have just finished Attached. Fantastic book!

Anyway, as per my story, I have been having a debate with myself a lot these days on how much exercise one should do, to deal with stress or anxiety. I know I can over exercise (of course if one doesn’t move at all then believe me, movement really is healing). BUT if we move too much and don’t take / learn other mechanisms with dealing with stress and anxiety then it could back fire.

My biggest reward from last year was learning to stop! I painted, I read, I listened to podcasts and meditated. Something I am continuing because it really does help me.

I recommend looking after your mental health with other ways than exercise too. (If you exercise).

Did you know that the Japanese believe that mental health and improving your physical health is only helped with getting outside. They call it ‘Shinrin Yoku’ (forest bathing). It’s literally like religion to them!

That’s how important it is! All scientific studies have 100% confirmed that the outdoors and walking can help boost your energy, immune system, and energy levels, as well as help you sleep better and recover faster if you get sick.

Get outside even if it’s for ten minutes. ❤️💯

I love lifting but ever since I was a child, I have loved walking. I love the outdoors and as you can see from some of our past hikes, sussex has some beautiful parts to walk!

Something I don’t like to talk or dwell on too much is my diagnosis of juvenile arthritis at 13 years old. I have never wanted my fitness page to be about one theme. BUT my page would not be authentic to me if I didn’t talk abit more about it.

Ever since getting Covid, it definitely has disrupted my hormones and secondly has made me always cold! I can never warm my feet up!! This in turn has obviously not helped my arthritis. I am not a great winter girl as it is but lately things can feel so up and down. I can feel absolutely amazing and then do too much and get depleted very quickly. Last week was one of those weird weeks. Auto immune issues can go up and down like a roller coaster. Hence, why we should never judge a book by its cover or on this case it’s face.

The catch with all these things, is knowing when to rest but also knowing when you have to get back up! You could sleep forever, and believe me I have times where I want to. But then you realise that nutrition and movement will help. I am back on my curries, turmeric latte and of course movement (whether it’s a walk to lifting). Within a day or two from an attack,‘I feel the energy rise. Sometimes it can take longer but I always know I will get back up. I just have to listen and I have to practice self care. That means nutrition and moving.

Why does it happen more in winter ? A fall in barometric pressure, which often occurs as a cold front approaches, can cause joints to expand, which may result in pain. Low temps may also increase the thickness of the synovial fluid that acts as the joint's shock absorber, which makes joints stiffer and more sensitive to pain.

Exercise helps;
Exercise is crucial for people with arthritis. It increases strength and flexibility, reduces joint pain, and helps combat fatigue.

Tips for Dealing with Arthritis Pain in Winter
1. Stay warm and layer up. Keeping those achy joints warm is a top way to reduce the pain. ...
2. Eat a healthy diet. ...
3. Get your stress under control. ...
4. Stay active and exercise. ...
5. Consider wearing compression gloves. ...
6. Get your vitamin D. ...
7. Skip the fizzy stuff/sugar
8. Sleep it off.
9. Take supplements

We may go out more. We may eat a little more. We may drink a little more (even non alcoholic drinks filled with sugar), we may be doing this and that a bit more BUT do we stop our movement or even dancing ? Our exercise ? Our lifting ?

No way ! December is the same as any month. I have been training since a little girl. That’s a lot of years 😛 ... exercise is for life. Not for another time in life. Your heart literally needs you. ❤️🙏🏽

I don’t do New Year, new me BUT there is always time to look at what time do you make for you? If the answer is “I’m always busy” .. then maybe it’s time to look at those words you are choosing? Everyone is on the treadmill. It’s going fast, and so is life! Everyone is BUSY. So stop saying that to yourself and to others who are just as busy / tired/ like you!

Reminder..... drink ya water !

The importance of staying hydrated through winter gets easily over looked. We concentrate so much in the summer to make sure we get our water, forgetting how important it is in the winter. In actual fact you should be drinking even more water in winter.

💫 Your muscles are more tense, cold and need that extra burst of hydration before they cramp up.

💫 Not drinking water in winter can cause exhaustion, muscle fatigue, cramps, loss of coordination and you can become more susceptible to winter colds and flu.

💫 Water regulates the body temperature and is essential to the function of cells, tissues and organs.

💫 Don't forget to drink your 2/3 litres a day!

Try hot water and lemon, hot water on its own, hot water and honey or even herbal teas count too. Please stay hydrated for your health, your joints and even your skin! 👊👊xx

This is LIFE. I love my weights, my boxing and my running. But those windy sunset / sunrise walks on the beach are completely breath taking. Albeit the wind can cut you in half 😂😂

The outdoors is always calling.
Never forget to get outside, even if you are a daily gym fan! Nature can help us humans so much more than we give it credit for. I know many of you work 9-5 office jobs so to me that makes it more important than ever to get out!!

Nature can give you natural Vitamin D but please get some supplements in for winter. I do NOT do without vitamin C and D in winter.

Pinch punch first of the month! Oh and it’s that time of year. 🎄😝. Some love it and some loathe it. But whatever the end of the year means to you, I hope it doesn’t mean a new year, new you. I actually despise all that stuff.

Now, I’m off to help people understand their bodies, get their ‘ strong ‘ goals met and more importantly for them to see their potential. The one thing I love about this role, is not only watching bodies change, get more aligned and stronger but their minds! I have had so many clients even change their careers. This is what training can do. It can literally change your thinking.

For me, training and health will never be for a certain size. Not for an outfit. Not for an event. But that one big thing .... and that thing is called LIFE. Live it well and the rest just follows ..... pass the message on❤️💫💪🏼
