Brighton and Hove Cricket Club, based at the Nevill Sports Ground in Hove, are the largest amatuer club in Sussex with 6 Mens & 2 Womens teams and Boys & Girls teams from U10 to U17.

Some brilliant individual performances to round off the league season! 🏏

With the bat, Joseph Davies led the way with 87, followed by Ryan Jakeman 72, Matthew Whippey 69 and Tom Gospel 60, giving us four 50+ scores across the weekend.

The bowlers were in fine form too, with four separate four-wicket hauls:
Mick Brazil 4-18, Richard Spink 4-27, Luca Boden 4-41 and Jamie Piper 4-43.

There were also excellent three-wicket spells from Jake Soffe, Girish Murali and Liam O’Brien, making it a strong finish to the season across the club.

Congratulations to everyone featured, and to all our players on a fantastic final week of cricket.

The final league Saturday of the season brought three wins from six for Brighton & Hove.

The 1s finished strongly with a 6-wicket win over Bolney, while the 6s signed off in style with a convincing 75-run victory over Southwick & Shoreham.

And a huge congratulations again to the 5s, who finish the season as LEAGUE CHAMPIONS and will be promoted for next season! 🏆 Their final fixture was conceded by Balcombe, but it caps a brilliant campaign from the side.

There were narrow defeats elsewhere, for the 2s, 3s,and 4s

The 4s avoided relegation by the barest of margins finishing just 1 point above the relegation zone!

A big thank you to everyone who has played, scored, umpired, coached, supported and helped get six senior sides on the field throughout the season.

🏏 A BIG FINAL WEEKEND AT THE NEVILLE

The league season may be coming to an end, but there’s still a huge weekend of cricket ahead at Brighton & Hove CC!

SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER
🏏 Final League Weekend

All six of our Men’s XIs play their final league matches of the season, with the 1s, 3s and league-winning 5s at home at The Neville.

The 4s travel to Littlehampton, Clapham & Patching knowing a win, combined with results elsewhere going their way, could still secure their place in the division for next season.

SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER
💙 Club Day at The Neville

From 9am, our Juniors take centre stage with Parents v Kids matches across both squares, alongside end-of-season presentations for each of our junior teams.

Then at 1pm, the East Square hosts the Ed Wilson Memorial Match, as we come together for the second year to remember our friend and teammate Ed and raise money for Headway Sussex.

We’re rounding off another fantastic Junior season with a full Club Day at The Neville, and everyone is welcome to come along and be part of it.

🏏 Ed Wilson Memorial Match – Sunday 6th September

Join us at The Nevill as, for the second year running, we come together to remember our good friend and teammate Ed Wilson with the Ed Wilson Memorial T20 intraclub friendly.

🕐 1pm start
🏏 Bensons Ibiza Tour Invitational XI vs Henry Adams XI

Ed joined Bensons in 2023 and was part of the inaugural Ibiza Tour that same year. In his time with the club, he became a much-loved member of the Bensons family and is very much missed by his friends and teammates.

Alongside the cricket, we’ll be holding a raffle in aid of Headway Sussex, the brain injury charity that supported Ed during his health difficulties.

We’d love to see plenty of people at the club to enjoy the cricket, remember Ed and help us raise some money for a fantastic cause.

A bit of a washout for Week 17, with the rain getting the better of four of our five scheduled matches! 🌧️🏏

Somehow, the Nevill microclimate did its thing and stayed dry just long enough for the 4s to squeeze in a 25-over game against Southwater. Unfortunately they went down by 28 runs, but there were excellent individual performances from Gus Holdaway, who took 3-22, and Nishant Mehta, who finished unbeaten on 39.

There was some much better news elsewhere though...

🏆 Our 5th XI sit top of the table with an unassailable 36-point lead heading into the final weekend!

A fantastic achievement from the 5s and a very bright spot on an otherwise rather soggy weekend.

One weekend of league cricket left! 💙💛
