Thanks to Tracy Giddings from Harold Wood Running Club for this week's run report.
Wet Wet Wet / Raindrops keep falling on my head / Singing in the rain – Hove Promenade
Firstly, a massive thank you to all the jolly, enthusiastic marshals who volunteered to stand out in the rain this morning. Best marshals ever. All very upbeat, loved the musical fitness marshal at the turn...the sun might not have had his hat on but you definitely all BRIGHTONed our day.
Now to the weather! What can I say? typical British Bank holiday weather, although I guess we can't complain after our long hot summer. One more day would have been good😹 To quote our RD for the day "Who is excited to run in the rain?" – there was a big cheer 😊
Myself and husband Bryn toured from Harold Wood Running Club in Essex. We came down on Friday morning train and spent an enjoyably day walking around town, down the Lanes, along the Promenade, down the Pier and enjoying a drink watching the sun go down. Luckily weather was fab on Friday, albeit a tad windy.
This was our 2nd parkrun in Brighton, the first being Brighton & Hove.
Our Hotel was a 10-minute jog away.
There are toilets and cafes along the promenade.
Hove Promenade does have the parkrun sign for that compulsory parkrun tourism photo. Although today, due to weather, it didn't make an appearance, so AI did some magic. 😉
For any that haven’t been introduced to Wonkys yet, this was my Wonkys 8th tour. I was enlightened in Finland of the Wonky clan and their page – Where’s Wonky? Most Wonky bears are parkrun themed; mine are Harold Wood Running Club themed. Again, due to the forecast, I decided not to bring thus morning, so they had a little tour last night and again with the help of AI they were there😍
Hove Promenade are a welcoming team, the course is 2 laps along the promenade. The course has a permanent marked start area and turn around.
Loved the PB bell board and of course, we are at the seaside, so finish tokens go into a bucket.
Rebecca Ward & Katie Stripe were RD's for the day. Today we also had a sign reader. Julie Rainey did the First timers welcome. Graham Caldow was the tail walker.
Hove Promenade are fully inclusive for wheelchair users and visually impaired with guide runners.
5k your way, move against cancer were there today.
A BIG thank you to all the Core team for volunteering and putting on a fabulous parkrun event.
There were 608 runners and walkers today of those 109 were tourists. A BIG welcome to the 27 first timers, we hope that you all felt the parkrun magic😊
Well, done to those 58 runners that achieved a personal best today.
