Another final took place at JGF this afternoon where Tracey and Alan McGhee played Phyllis Clark and John Gilchrist in the Mixed Pairs. Commiserations to Tracey and Alan and congratulations to the JGF 2026 Mixed Pairs Champions Phyllis and John.

With the outdoor season slowly but surely coming to a close it’s so encouraging to see THIRTY TWO members turning up on the last Monday in August to participate in the weekly Wappenschaw. 2026 has seen a healthy increase in our membership numbers and the new members are as keen as mustard!!! Still got another 4 Mondays in September to enjoy. Also this Sunday - 6th September - we are hosting our annual friendly game versus Fairlie B.C. and again it’s great to see almost 30 ladies and gents members having their names down to take part in what is always an enjoyable day.

Well done to the JGF Gents Top Ten team who defeated Shanks tonight at Midton in the semi final of the Johnstone and District Top Ten competition. We now look forward to the final on Sunday 30th August at 1pm where we will play Woodlands at Lochwinnoch B.C. Hopefully there will be a large turnout of JGF members to give the team support and encouragement that afternoon.

The ever popular Aussie Pairs competition took place at JGF today with 18 Pairs participating - a very healthy number considering we had 10 men away playing in the RBA Top Ten and 4 ladies away playing in the Champion of Champions.

Congratulations go to the 2026 winners Gordon Murdoch and Norman Robertson who defeated Margaret Tannahill and Graham McGee in an exciting final.

Thanks to Ladies Match Secretary Heather Grainger for running the competition so efficiently.

(And just to clarify - the man with huge grin middle rear of photo is Junior Vice President Tom Stewart who presented the trophy to Gordon and Norman).

Another great day for JGF where Kenny Clark and John Gilchrist ran out winners in a great game versus George Grant and Gordon Finnigan of Kilbarchan B.C. in the PVBA Champion of Champions Pairs competition. Thanks to President Tam Magrath, Robin Porter and the Directors of the PVBA on their excellent organisation. Also thanks to Charleston B.C. for providing a very good playing surface for all today’s players, also thanks to sponsors Kenneth Keegan for their continued support.
