⚽️ MATCH REPORT | MATCHDAY 2

Another close game between two evenly contested teams, where sadly luck wasn’t on our side again.

The boys were much improved from last week, battling for every ball and applying the pressure the coaches had asked for. 💪

Despite the improvement, the boys went into half-time 2 goals down.

At half-time we demanded even more effort in the second half, and the boys responded brilliantly. 🔥 The pressure paid off twice as we found two goals to bring the game level!

Then, with just 5 minutes to go, a long, high looping ball caught the wind and sailed over Luca in our goal. With so little time left, there was nothing Luca could do to stop it. 😔

Another close defeat, but lots to take on board and plenty to build on for the rest of the season.

The boys showed great character to battle back from 2–0 down and get themselves level — now we keep working, keep learning and keep battling. 💙💛

MATCHDAY 2 | HETTON JUNIORS LAZIO 🆚 BOLDON CAFF
It’s Matchday 2 and we’re looking forward to another game for the boys! 🟨🟦
Today sees the first-ever meeting between Hetton Juniors Lazio and Boldon Caff, so it’s a new challenge for the Lazio boys.
After a slightly rusty opening fixture, Wednesday’s training session focused on correcting some of the issues we saw last time out. The boys have been challenged to focus on Positioning, Pressure and Patience — the 3 Ps. 🔵🟡
Now it’s time to put that work into practice and see if we can take those lessons onto the pitch today.
💪 Let’s see the boys battling, working together and giving everything for the shirt.

⚽️ MATCH REPORT | NOT OUR DAY

It wasn’t quite our day today as the boys returned to action after the break.

We started slowly and a little nervously, with some understandable rustiness showing in our passing and finishing. The opposition took the lead halfway through the first half, leaving us with work to do.

The second half started much stronger, but unfortunately we conceded again. Despite that, the boys kept battling and never gave up. 💪

We were finally rewarded for our efforts when Jacob found the back of the net, but sadly it was too late to find the equaliser.

A fantastic battling performance from Hal, whose constant effort, determination and willingness to fight for every ball kept us in with a chance right until the end.

Not the result we wanted, but plenty to learn from and plenty to build on.

Today we celebrate everything the boys have achieved as a team at under 7s level before we move to under 8s. We're very proud of them all and that gets recognised today.

Our penultimate game of the season saw us come up against a very good Hartlepool side who gave us a tough beating last season.

The match started evenly, but it soon became clear just how much quality Hartlepool possessed. Some clever passing around our defence led to two goals being conceded in quick succession.

The boys battled hard to get themselves back into the game. Parker came closest to getting us on the scoresheet, unleashing a powerful effort from range that was brilliantly tipped onto the crossbar by the Hartlepool goalkeeper. Credit where it's due – it was an outstanding save and so unlucky for Parker.

Coach Matt praised the boys at half-time because they refused to drop their heads or give up the fight. This team is built on effort, spirit and determination, and they showed that in abundance once again.

Despite conceding a couple more goals, the boys continued to drive forward and look for a way back into the match, but Hartlepool's defence could not be breached.

A valiant effort against a top side.

One more game remains this season. It's been a tough campaign and we've had our fair share of bad luck along the way, but the progress these boys have made has been massive and it's clear for everyone to see.

⚽ Match Report vs Gateshead Rutherford ⚽

A very closely fought battle today against a resilient Gateshead Rutherford side.

We tried something a little different today, with Isaac playing at the back, two wingers and one striker up front. The system worked really well, allowing us to play some brilliant attacking football while remaining solid and organised defensively.

Rutherford, however, proved to be a brick wall. Time after time they threw bodies in the way, blocking shot after shot, while their goalkeeper also had a fantastic game between the sticks.

Despite creating plenty of chances, we couldn't find the breakthrough before half-time. At the other end, our number one Luca was putting in a performance worthy of prime Peter Schmeichel, saving everything that came his way and commanding his area superbly.

0-0 at the break.

The message to the boys was simple: keep doing what you're doing and the goal will come.

And eventually it did.

Parker's shot from distance somehow squeezed past the goalkeeper to give the boys a deserved lead. Shortly afterwards, a brilliantly worked corner saw Isaac unleash a shot that looked destined for the top corner, only for the keeper to somehow claw it away. How that stayed out, we'll never know!

Unfortunately, luck wasn't quite on our side again. In the dying moments, Rutherford pressed forward and managed to latch onto a loose ball that Luca couldn't quite keep out.

1-1 in the end — probably a fair result on reflection.

A fantastic display between the sticks, producing several excellent saves and showing great distribution throughout.

Calm, cool and composed at the back while also playing a huge role in starting many of our attacks.

Well done boys. Another strong performance, another step forward in your development, and plenty of positives to take into the next game. 💪

⚽ Match Report vs Coxhoe United Lions ⚽

Another closely contested game that ended in heartbreak for the lads. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on our side today.

The boys started slowly, as if they'd been up all night playing computer games 🎮

The energy wasn't quite there and some of our passing was a little wayward. We found ourselves 2-0 down early on and didn't look like getting back into the game.

At half-time, Coach Stuie delivered a rallying call, challenging the boys to turn things around and reminding them to play our game — passing, determination and battling for every ball.

Despite conceding a third goal after losing our shape a little, we kept encouraging the boys to stick to our football and keep working hard.

Parker led the comeback from the front, supported brilliantly by his teammates.

He chased everything, challenged for every ball and tracked back whenever needed. He was a man on a mission and got the reward his effort deserved. His first goal came from a neatly taken finish after a great assist from Hal.

Parker's second arrived after he brilliantly pressured their defence, closed down a loose pass and calmly slotted home. The pressure was starting to tell.

He wasn't finished there either. He almost completed his hat-trick moments later when his shot was spilled by the goalkeeper straight into the path of Youcef, who kept his composure and finished well under pressure.

3-3. Game on! 🔥

We almost fell behind again, but Luca pulled off a couple of excellent saves late on to keep us level.

Then came what looked like the winner. Parker drove forward from halfway before unleashing a shot that crashed against the foot of the post.

Then heartbreak 💔

In the dying moments of the game, we were caught on the counter attack. Luca almost gathered the ball, but the opposition managed to poke home the winner from close range.

A disappointing result, but once again the boys showed fantastic character, determination and resilience. Another important lesson on their footballing journey and another reminder of how far they're coming every week.

A tireless display leading the line, two goals, relentless work rate and a huge part of the comeback effort.

⚽️ Match Result vs CLS United Reds ⚽️
After last week’s tough battle against the league leaders where the boys put in a fantastic effort, today saw another brilliant display as we came away with a well-earned draw 👏
The lads played some beautiful football at times, passing it around like prime Barcelona 🔵🔴✨
Hal and Parker struck up a brilliant partnership up front, with Hal setting up Parker for the opener. Parker then returned the favour just before half time, laying one on for Hal to make it 2-0 ⚽⚽
We were delighted with the first half display and looked to continue in the same way after the break. Unfortunately, we got caught out at the back and the opposition pulled one back.
Parker then came back on from the bench to latch onto a neat pass from Hunter and calmly slot home our third goal 🔥
The game became really tight after that. The opposition kept launching high balls forward from their goalkeeper and we couldn’t quite deal with them as they managed to draw level late on.
Jacob, Youcef and Parker all had chances to win it, but the opposition keeper was in top form in the second half making save after save 🧤
A draw in the end in a closely contested game.
What made us most proud though was the way the boys continued to play football properly — passing, moving and supporting each other as a team right until the final whistle 💙
It’s becoming a repeated phrase, but their development week by week is coming on leaps and bounds 👏
