Thanks to Cycling UK North East England Big Bike Revival funding and the popularity of our Learn to Ride a bike sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday, starting next week we are able to offer more places and dates.

We are also now offering 2 different sessions: -

First time sessions – This is for anyone who is new to cycling and wants to learn how to ride a bike.

Second time sessions – This is for anyone who has attended our first-time session and needs another session to practice. (you can attend this session multiple times).

If you have booked onto multiple first time sessions, don’t worry as we will discuss transferring your additional bookings to the second session when you attend the first time session.

We are back in Houghton Rectory Park thanks to Cycling UK North East England Big Bike Revival funding.

Bring your bike along for a free bike MOT check over. This includes small fixes, cable replacement, brake pad replacement (v-brakes) and punctures (patched).

Find us next to The Old Rectory building opposite the fountain now till 3.30pm.

The Old Rectory Building

In the first of a series of hands on bike maintenance classes you will learn how to fix a puncture and how to safety check your bike.

You can either bring your own bike or let us know and we can provide a one for you.

Let’s get cycling at Houghton Rectory Park.

Starting Tuesday 28th May and for the rest of the summer….

FREE LEARN TO RIDE A BIKE SESSIONS
Ideal for anyone aged 5 years and older including adults who want to learn to ride a bike.

This session teaches you the skills and confidence required to ride a bike with pedals independently.
You will learn how to:
· Mount
· Dismount
· Balance
· Steer
· Brake
· Pedal

Please note any participant under the age of 18 years only must be accompanied by an adult. Ideally one child per adult.

DR BIKE – FREE BIKE HEALTH CHECK (MOT) AND SMALL REPAIRS

Bring your bike along and we’ll give you a health check report on it along with making small adjustments/repairs, including gear indexing, brake adjustments, cable replacement, oiling of chain, air in tyres, puncture repair – please bring your own inner tube.

PLEASE NOTE – This is not a full bike service; however, your health check report will tell you if any major repairs need to be made.

Bikes should be dropped off at 1.30pm and will be ready for collection at 3.30pm

Hello everyone.

I've received a number of enquiries regarding when my next learn to ride sessions will be back on.

As it's winter I always stop doing the sessions until the weather is better. Trying to learn to ride a bike in the cold, wind or rain isn't nice. 🥶💨🌧️🌨️☹️

As soon as the weather gets better I'll be putting sessions on again. 😁
