Northampton Shaleway with Spedeworth Motorsports Stock Car and Banger racing at Brafield: the historic venue, now with a grandstand and shale surface.

Northampton International Raceway is the UK’s longest serving short oval with over 60 years of history behind it. Racing takes place on either Saturday nights, Sunday afternoons and some Bank Holiday Mondays. It hosts many types of racing from the elite National Hot Rods and mighty V8 powered BriSCA F1 stock cars down through a range of classes to Banger racing and caravan races.

Double World Weekend; over and out!

What a three days at Brafield it was, with two new hugely deserving World Champions crowned and plenty of racing action. If you joined us trackside or watched live from home - then we would like to say thank you!

To the drivers and teams working in far from ideal conditions when the weather took a turn - we’re still waiting to be able to run a weekender at Northampton when it doesn’t - your efforts and distance travelled doesn’t go un noticed and we thank you all for the support.

To the thousands of race fans, seeing smiles on faces is what this weekend was all about. If you travelled 1 mile or 1000 miles, thanks again and we hope you enjoyed your visit. To everyone getting involved in the 80s/90s fancy dress and disco - there were some great efforts!

Finally - our thanks to the staff and officials who made it all happen. On track, off track, this army of people contributed to bringing the event to life. We wouldn’t have any racing without you.

Event FAQs

Once again, here are some FAQs for Race Fans ahead of the Double World Final Weekend next weekend, with the aim of helping you enjoy your visit.

❓What time does it start?
Friday 6:30pm, Saturday 1pm, Sunday 12pm

❓Can I pay on the day?
Yes, tickets are available per day at the Turnstiles - cash or card accepted. Please keep your wristband on at all times.

❓Do I need a camping pass?
If you are staying overnight, whatever you are staying in requires a camping pass to be displayed - this includes tents, campers, cars etc. Your camping pass covers you from Thursday to Monday night. Don’t forget, all units need a fire extinguisher to allow us to have camping at this event.

❓Are there facilities for camping?
Toilets are available in the stadium and in the camping area. Showers are available in the main toilet block at a cost of £5. The cost is due to the lack of respect and hygiene people have shown our facilities in the past.

❓Where should I park?
If you aren't staying overnight, follow the signs to the day parking area. A park + ride will be available should you need it from the Day Parking area to the Turnstiles.

If you have a disabled badge, please follow the signs to the disabled parking area where a shuttle will be able to bring you to and from the Turnstiles.

❓Can I still get a grandstand seat?
Grandstand seating can be purchased at the event for £15.00 per seat per day - visit the booking team alongside the Turnstiles.

❓Where do I enter the stadium car park?
Entry will only be permitted via designated gates, please follow the signs to where you need to go. The layout of this event is different to most at the venue.

❓Can I bring in my own food/drink?
Yes, just no glass please. Food and drink is also available at the stadium.

❓Can I bring in my own chairs?
Yes, but please be considerate to other race fans.

❓Will the bar be open on Friday and Saturday night?
Absolutely!

When arriving at Northampton Shaleway this weekend, please use the appropriate gate from the main road, and please allow extra time to arrive due to roadworks in the area.

Don't forget, a shuttle coach - thanks to our good friends at Andrews of Tideswell - will be operating over the weekend to get you to and from the Day Car Parking area should you wish to use it.

A free shuttle will also bring you to and from the Turnstiles from the Disabled Parking area should you wish to use it.

We would like to remind drivers of a few points ahead of the biggest EVER Stock Car weekend:

PIT PARKING
As a reminder, all competitors are required to bring ground protection.

We have a record number of competitors booked, and we insist that you park as close together as you can – space will be at a premium. If you wish to park with another race team then you must arrive together, no spaces can be saved.

WELCOME PACK
All further information can be found in your Welcome Pack, please take the time to read it to help the event run as smoothly as possible.

TRANSPONDERS
We request, where possible, drivers bring their transponder number when signing in at the pit office.

SCRUTINEERING
We wish all competitors the very best of luck, and remind drivers to ensure their race cars conform to the rule book as extensive checks will be made - this is the driver's responsibility to ensure their car is legal.

Bumpers clanging and engines roaring: ditch the takeaway at home and join us on Friday night for an event worth the hype in its own right - it's a traditional full format BriSCA F1 Stock Car format alongside the all-action 1400cc Stock Cars.

Watch these two hugely entertaining classes set the tone for the biggest EVER Stock Car Weekend of racing - with a huge entry taking to the Brafield shale...

First race goes at 6:30pm, Turnstiles open 2:30pm.

Get the best view of the racing from the Grandstand this Double World Final Weekend, with seats remaining available to be purchased per day at £15 a day. Having an elevated view of the action really does give you a top experience.
