Interesting weekend at Epynt. While on recce got the worst nightmare photo, at 4:30am when leaving ,I left my helmet outside the workshop in a sleepy daze😂….luckily Neil Spain(Hirefit) came to my rescue and hired me a helmet. Kicking myself what an idiot!! First time for everything. Will be the last hopefully!
The Intercom played up in car so most of the day was spent with Callum doing frantic hand signals🤣🤣 not ideal over Epynt.
Luckily we got a finish 2nd in class and 36th overall. Also 1st in class for the Protyre so a great start to that.

Big thanks to Neil Spain, JD Competition Tyres, The Frog and Nightgown, Faygate, Callum Young Rallying and Kelv Melv Layton on the spanner’s as usual. mountain media for the photo.

Next up seats rally Tendring clacton rally. Two stages Saturday evening on the seafront. If anyone’s around come and say hello!!

Epic Run through the Legend Fires North West Stages.

The stages were tricky but we managed a really good morning with the car running faultlessly.

We were 2nd in class by a few seconds with 3 stages left to run, however in the last 3 stages we lost a lot of time with a combination of low sun and catching cars (more reasons in the excuse book.)

All in all fantastic day and not bad for our 2nd closed roads event.

Next up is Eypnt and then Clacton.

Big thanks to Callum Young Rallying who was spot on with the notes all day and a pleasure to sit next too.

Big thanks to the boys who came for the trip as well, was very enjoyable as per usual Kelv Melv Layton

Thanks to The Frog and Nightgown, Faygate for the continued support and all the staff for working so hard over a sunny weekend.

Small onboard clip to follow.

CUU116V Talbot Sunbeam TI

After my last post, I got some fantastic photos and info from many people including these from a certain Dean Teasdale, with history back to 83.

All the history was taken off along with a lot of filler, and the car is now blasted and primed and ready for the next step fabrication.

It’s amazing how solid the shell is and John from MJK Blasting did a fantastic job!!!

Great news!!! Now time to get the car ready !!

Can’t wait for the first closed road event of the year!!!

We have some space of the car some large stickers if any companies up north would like some exposure! All we ask is for a couple of tyres paid for!

The time has come to restore the sunbeam, the plan is to make it into a historic gravel car.

I’ll keep posting photos are the build progresses.

When the brain is still thinking about New Years Eve and has forgotten to operate the brake 😂

Brands Hatch Winter Stages— Started of rather badly on stage 1 doing donuts on the grass after going off on the slippery rally stage.
Stage 2 didn’t get much better having another spin and the slight detour videod above! We managed to loose a fair bit of time in the first few stages so before stage 3, co-driver James Hedges and No1 Mechanic Kev, thought they would have a quiet word with me and tell me to stop driving like a d*ckhead and start concentrating.

Stage 3/4 were clean and began to start concentrating again and keeping it neat and tidy, but still a bit off the pace.

Stage 5/6 things were getting better with a 5th and 3rd fastest stage times in class.

Stage 7/8 the lights came on and more fun was had! With a 4th and 6th fastest time to close the day.

We finished 6th in class and 39th overall, not bad considering the morning we had! The Mk2 ran faultlessly but did need some bodywork putting back into place and a bit of adjustment here and there. Thanks to Mechanic Kev for your skills as per usual.

James Hedges sat in the co-driving seat for this event and was spot on all day as usual and didn’t forgot his sense of humour giggling away while we were going round in circles in the mud 😂😂

All in all a good day and even better to be back in the seat after the last event in September! Thanks to all who came and watched and supported.

We’re hoping to sneak in another event for some more practice but our next confirmed event is the Legend Fires North West Stages on 18th/19th March.

Special thanks to The Frog and Nightgown, Faygate for the catering for the day, S & N Tyres + 24/7 Mobile Tyres for coming up to support.
