From 9am. Two large skips to fill with old rubbish from changing rooms. All hands on deck.
Bacon butties etc supplied to all who help. THANK YOU. It has been an uphill challenge, but we are getting towards our goal.

We’ve made a start!
Cleared the old partition, moved a load of stuff and built some racking out of old partition for some storage.
Massive thanks to Popeye 🙌💪

Next bit of work takes place on Sat 21st Feb, we will have two skips to load for a massive clear out. Then the major work can start soon after. 🫡👍💚💛

Exciting News – Changing Room Renovations Are On the Way!

We’re delighted to announce that the changing room renovation project is nearly ready to get underway. As part of our preparations, we’ll be clearing out everything from the changing rooms. A huge thank you to Popeye, who’ll be dismantling the temporary partitions and transforming them into temporary shelving in the extension area for all our sports equipment. He’ll kick this off on 7th February.

To make the clear-out easier, we’ve organised two skips for any unwanted items. Massive thanks to Barns Green Sports & Social Club for their brilliant support and for generously covering the cost of one skip!

We need your help on 21st February!

That’s when we’re holding our big clear-out and organising session, starting at 10am. There’ll be bacon rolls or pastries to keep everyone going! If you’re able to help, please let your sports club rep know so we can cater for everyone:

• Football – Wills (Clive Williams)
• Rugby – Alan Lambkin
• Cricket – Russ Parkes

We’re just waiting for the detailed plans to be finalised before submitting them to building control and planning. Once approved, we’ll be starting work as soon as possible.

Donations from Muntham House School and Si Viney Rugby 7's Tournament

A massive thank you for two more major donations. Muntham House School has kindly donated £1,000 to our fund. Muntham is a very special school in Barns Green for boys aged 5-18 years old. Specialising in Autism, ADHD and Trauma, they also work with pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health and other SEN conditions.

The Si Viney Rugby 7's Tournament took place last Sunday, a fantastic event enjoyed by everyone who took part. The sun shone down on players and spectators on the village green. Out of their amazing total raised the changing rooms has received a donation of £2,100. Particular thanks to Guy & Tom Viney who have worked so hard over the years it has been running to make this event a special community event in memory of Si, and have raised incredible amounts of money for good causes.

A huge thank you to Barns Green Christmas Tree Festival and all of the volunteers who worked so hard to make this event happen. We are extremely grateful for their donation of £2,000 to the changing room fund. You can read more about the event and all of the other donations to good causes in the May edition of the Barns Green BIG Mag

Time for an update on where we are with the project. Although you may not have heard from us for a while we have all been working hard behind the scenes. Writing grant applications, attending meetings, liaising with contractors, talking to key organisations with an interest in the project, writing tender reports, the list goes on.

We hope we are now on the last leg before we can start works, but we still have to satisfy all of the conditions set for the funding we have been awarded in principle before it can be released. We have to demonstrate that we have a fully funded project before works can start, otherwise the project won't be eligible for the grant funding.

We currently have £24k in secured funding which includes the donations made through Crowdfunder and a further £60k of in principle grant funding agreed (subject to satisfying the final conditions). You can still donate through Crowdfunder if you would like to support the project. The next fundraising event is the Si Viney Rugby 7's Tag Tournament where part of the money raised will benefit the changing rooms project. The tournament takes place on 18 May on the village green, we hope to see you there.

We had some fantastic news yesterday, Sports England have awarded a £10k grant for the changing rooms refurbishment. That takes our total to over £31k. Donations are still open please continue to spread the word.

We have reached £8,000! To each and every one of our supporters you are amazing.

The initial crowdfunding period closes tomorrow morning at 9.50 am but our page will remain live for donations and we will update everyone on progress through the page.

We are also waiting for decisions on grant applications, how much work we can get done in this first phase will depend on the total amount raised. Works are planned to start at the end of March.
