This Trip is one that Izzy & I will never forget.
We are incredibly grateful to have been part of this journey with my client Nick, and we can’t thank him enough for taking us to Lake Placid to experience such an unforgettable event together.
Nick’s day started with an incredible 2.4-mile swim the equivalent of around 175 lengths of a swimming pool , which he completed in an outstanding 1 hour 36 minutes, his fastest time ever over that distance.
He then headed out onto one of the toughest bike courses in Ironman, climbing an incredible 7,000 feet of elevation. Despite suffering a puncture on the first lap, costing him around 25 minutes, he battled on with unbelievable determination and completed 105 of the 112 miles. Sadly, with only 40 minutes remaining before the 10-hour 20-minute bike cut-off, officials had no choice but to pull him from the course which in our eyes seems so unfair especially after watching him so strong on the swim & the bike course .
To many, that may sound like disappointment. To us, it is anything but.
Watching him take on Ironman was nothing short of inspiring. The dedication, countless hours of training, unwavering commitment, and sacrifices he made along the way are what truly define an Ironman.
While the finish line may have to wait until next year, we have absolutely no doubt that Nick will become an Ironman. In our eyes, he already is. The medal doesn’t make the athlete the heart, resilience, determination, and perseverance do.
we couldn’t be prouder of Nick It was an honour to support him throughout the weekend, and the memories we’ve made will stay with us forever.
