STATEMENT: VERTU MINI CHALLENGE -
SILVERSTONE, ROUND 18
On the opening lap of Round 18 of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy at Silverstone, a multi-car incident on the Wellington Straight occurred involving Louie Capozzoli ( #99 - EXCELR8), Joshua Wilby ( #95 - Team Avago), Gabe Fairbrother ( #11 - EXCELR8), Leo Purches ( #171 - Graves Motorsport) and Cameron Wood ( #43 - Chandler Motorsport).
Following the incident, the race was immediately red-flagged, with rescue and medical teams dispatched to the scene.
Joshua Wilby, Cameron Wood and Leo Purches were able to exit their cars themselves following the incident and walked to an ambulance before being taken to the medical circuit and then released.
Gabe Fairbrother and Louie Capozzoli were both extricated from their cars by rescue teams before being taken to the circuit medical centre, and have now been transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for precautionary checks.
The two drivers are both talking and in good spirits.
